update: kcdread for win32 does not work on my win XP machine, even though I have an ASPI layer installed; however, Translator Free does work on the same PC
so at the moment, Translator seems like my best option for getting the krz files onto my hard drive, with the bonus of being able to convert to other formats for use with sfz+ or SampleTank LE in Tracktion

I used this http://www.marc-halbruegge.de/kcdread/kcdread.htm
It can read the discs and save the contents to your PC.
The sample libraries I used some of the files didn't work though.
