We need a list of ridiculous plugins that were or are currently being sold . I'm talking about plugins offering simple functionality a quickly created freeware plugin could offer.
The one plugin I saw that inspired this thread was this https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... 3941-Radio
It's no longer being sold now, but its a great example of what im talking about.
So you're basically paying for a gimmick. Now if you're serious about sampling you probably don't want to do it from a internet radio stream because of the horrible data compression they usually use.
Honestly it's not that hard to go to your local thrift store and find a beat up old radio with a Line out that you can sample from. At least doing this will actually sound like a real radio signal and as a bonus you wont be dealing with shit data compression artifacts..
So PB tried to sweeten the deal by including some Impulse reaponses of gear you can run the signal through. Thats great but in my experience this type of stuff is very gimmicky sounding and nothing like the real thing.
What are some ridiculous plugins that were sold or are being sold right now.

They're easy to find, just look for 99% off like Soundspot who sell generic algos with a stylin' GUI
On promo, Radio is awesome cheapware. From ITB, I can instantly step IRL of Senegal and get a 30-sec sample!

Boz's Bark of Dog is a piss-take of Little Labs Voice of God (£39 + UAD hardware), which fits exactly what you are talking about.
It turns out people were actually using it, so he then put out BOD2 which adds a few features and actually intends to be useful.
I can only conclude from this that sometimes gimmicks are genuinely useful workflow boosters. Or there are a lot of people who don't know how to use their stock EQ.
