I tried the demo and it sounds great, but I thought there should be more slots for the mod matrix.

I'm impressed. I can get the raw Saw and Pulse waveforms on Obsession and my OB-6 sounding very similar - I wouldn't say one is better than the other. It requires having the filter open about 80% on the OB-6, but, still. Things start diverging from there, of course, since the OB-6 is SEM-based. Interestingly, but not surprisingly, the OB-6 has a more "modern" sound since you can really make Obsession drift (I suppose I could manually adjust voices in the OB-6, but I'd be happy if I never have to open it up).
I'd say, also unsurprisingly, that, despite the nice drifty of Obsession, it's a little more digital, a bit less "dirt", and a bit less "alive". Unison can be VERY different.
EDIT: The triangles are less alike than the saw and square waves

It's very comprehensive. TBH, I'm a bit on the lazy side when it comes to stuff like that as well, but, I think what definitely adds to the "Oberheim-ish" feel is to add a bit of unpredictability to the filter attack stage (you hear that in most of the sound demos, that the filter attack has kind of a sluggish feel, where on some notes the attack phase is longer than on other notes). Differences in resonance range also make for some nice random-ness. With the standard values in the init patches, there's a bit too little resonance possible to my liking.e-crooner wrote: Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:47 pmI see. Basically, just click on one of the voices, and adjust the parameter differences of the single voice.
I wished there was a "clean" init patch though, with all voice settings set to a default value. I had a couple of minutes work to tweak the existing 8 voice init patch to have default values for all voices...![]()

In the Soundware forum i started a new thread with a download for my patches that were sorted out and not included in the factory ciontent:

I also added a collection of the audio demos i already had posted in the old OBsession threads.

I would not have included two triangles, but triangle for osc 1 and sine for osc 2.vitocorleone123 wrote: Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:51 pm EDIT: The triangles are less alike than the saw and square waves

CEM3340 is triangle core VCO, so it produces very accurate triangle wave across most of the range. OB6 uses most likely saw core VCO, which needs saw->tri converter, which are never perfect and no two are alike.vitocorleone123 wrote: Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:51 pm EDIT: The triangles are less alike than the saw and square waves

Finally this beast is out!
I'm not even going to demo it, it's an insta buy from me. This and Dune 3 what a combo (along with the Virus).
Um... and for $99 that's a ridiculously good price. I had expected to pay more but I'm not complaining.

I have a request: Can Synapse make their plugins poly pressure (aftertouch) aware? Also... I an't seem to find the control for MPE... Should I read the manual?

Playing with the demo now. Excellent job! Hats off to Rich, Marcin, and Mirko for a great plugin! Also to Kevin S, Alex, Daniel, Marc, Ingo and the rest of the programming team. As Synapse kept the price so low, I am definitely buying it!

Got it. Didn't have the pitch bend set right.zerocrossing wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2020 12:02 am I have a request: Can Synapse make their plugins poly pressure (aftertouch) aware? Also... I an't seem to find the control for MPE... Should I read the manual?![]()

Experimenting. Trying Obsession oversampled 2x and 4x (in a 48khz project) in Metasynth. It definitely changes the sound, especially the release tails. I'm guessing a project sample rate would have the same effect. 4x sorta eats some CPU - at least Diva quantity, if not more. 2x is pretty nice, though, in CPU (9900k).
Also, I can't stop playing this layered patch of LD Time Travel KS + an approximation on the OB-6 (neither with fx), run through an AR-1+ Valhalla Delay + Transatlantic Plate. Wow. That was a quick 30 minutes.

Don't know much about Metasynth. It allows you to change the OS of plugins?
I read somewhere on kvr that Legend was either 4x or 8x oversampling (not from Richard). Have no idea if it is true, but the assumption was Obsession would be too.
Now curious to know what it is.

There is a video with some really nice patches on YT, like the Spacenight pad. (Even though the pads seem to depend on the great reverb to a large extent and are not really typical of the Oberheim sound, it might as well be Dune.)
I wonder what is the point in including only 46, mostly crappy, factory presets in the demo version, when the excluded ones might be the ones actually convincing potential customers?!

I tried the demo but I am not hearing any real advantages over the Arturia version.
Maybe Synapse were sucker punched by Arturia? Knocked down and out before they even got out of the ring.
This maybe will sound strange but if Synapse have released their version first things could have been different?
