Yes, that's an option of course!
Although, I believe, that there are finally other ppl, who exactly dislike even that...

You see, that's the misery, a GUI developer and the coder always drives into...

The one wants a flat design, the next a 3D design, but not too much 3D, the next all at one screen and an other multiple views or sub container views and so on...

But I fear the problem neverthelless remains for real hardware emulations. It's not so simple, if you want to put a HW synth into it's pieces, even if it's not a modular one.

But hopefully thats the new tendence, to make smaler, well thought interfaces in the future.

And I fear the addition of certain 3D effects (even the salt in the soup for VST interface design or interface design in general) is merely a matter of taste.

If a user complains about a shadow, which falls into the wrong direction, and cannot work with this VSTi then for this reason, so I think that's really stupid picky behaviour, not really a user.

But I fear, that minimalism on the one side and functional GUI design on the other are finally two different things, or merely work under certain circumstances well together...

Is's not the wisdoms final result, I believe.
