Anybody use Ableton Live or Reaper with RTP MIDI using a mio XD/XL?

I'm wondering how it works at reducing latency vs USB MIDI.

From what I've gathered, you can connect all your MIDI devices to the mio and just have the RTP MIDI connection to the computer with less latency. You can also reconfigure connections within the software Auracle.

I guess 'em dem RTP MIDIified thinga-ma-jiggers idn't much of a hot topic 'round these here parts. And where's ya gall dang spittoons?!

Welp, I think I may have figured out how this'ere works now but not 100% sure yet.

From what I gathered, RTP MIDI isn't all it's cracked up to be, or at least what I was hoping for.

I was thinking I could transmit all my MIDI controllers w/ near zero latency to my setup via one Ethernet port. :(

Apparently it's just like one MIDI cable only you can connect it via Ethernet instead of USB MIDI or DIN MIDI.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok. Well I pretty much figured out how to route all my midi instruments and controllers to my computer via Ethernet; however, I didn't really notice that significant of a decrease in the latency though. It may be due to the fact that the Ethernet is connected to a Displaylink docking station that's connected to the laptop though. I'll have to try connecting the Ethernet directly to the laptop instead.

I guess nobody else on here uses an external MIDI interface?

Hi, I am a little late to the very small party, but I just got a mioXL, and am trying to get it all set up now. I have been able to use my controller hooked up to the XL via DIN over my network to my iPad. I am still trying to figure out how to get it to work with Ableton over Ethernet (can get it to work via USB though). I am still trying to figure out exactly the best way to route everything. This is what my setup looks like on paper:

I still need to add another DIN out cable from the SL MkIII to the mio (in the middle), because the iPad needs its own (I cant get it separated from the other MIDI channels). My laptop is on WiFi with the mioXL plugged into a switch connected to my router.
