thanks a lot for this great explanation !urosh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 8:36 amSet Obsession to init patch, turnoff both oscillators, set filter to 4 pole, resonance to maximum and then boost it in mod matrix (const->reso, max amount). Filter will self-oscillate in higher registers. Now do slow filter sweep with env. You'll notice that self-oscillation dies out in lower registers. That's how 3320 behaves (likely because gain of each filter stage dips a bit at low cutoff control voltage due the rather low output impedance of variable gain cell).
IMHO this contributes to two favorable traits, sounding controlled and open at high resonance settings, because huge reso boosts in lows and low mids tend to cause masking issues.
Synapse Audio OBSESSION is now available!

Noticed something else:
With the 4-pole filter I hear some grinding noise when detuning oscillator 2 by 5 or 7 semitones and playing chords on the 4th octave or so. One hears it best when the cutoff is low, like at 2.
As soon as I switch to the 2-pole filter, the noise seems gone.
Anyone confirm? Maybe one would see it on an oscilloscope, but I don't have such plugins. Is it aliasing?
To illustrate what I mean, a little comparison:

Actually,
Obsession is good at drums.
Here is a quick one, everything is Obsession, no processing whatsoever beside limiter on master bus https://soundcloud.com/x-uros-x/obss , resonance on bass maxed out for entertainment.
Only downside that I've found bout this plug is that when you really push it 1K-2K range can sound a bit hard, but it's easily fixable, everything else is immaculate. And it sits in the mix incredibly well.

The kick drum is nice, how did you get it that consistent? Sample it?urosh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:09 pmActually,

RAST-A for HALion is also excellent.Ingonator wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:56 am @electro: I love the Xils Lab synths and PolyM is awesome.
While OBSession currently is my most used one For "Oberheimish" sounds i got those plugins:
- Synapse Audio OBSession
- Arturia SEM V2
- Arturia Matrix-12 V2
- OB-Xd (freeware)
- U-He Diva (Uhbie filter)

I wish that Synapse would add a SEM filter option in the future so you can also get OBX/OB8 type sounds.

Yes, if Richard could somehow fit a SEM filter and/or OB-8's 'page 2' features, it would be great. But honestly, I'm not sure it'd be possible/viable to bolt on any of those features (could be wrong though).

Nope, osc reset. Although, I've pulled decent kick with free running oscillators, tricky part is getting right balance of resonance + pitch and filter env modulation, so that filter dominates initial transient.

It is all just code. He can do it. Look at all of the filter options in Dune 3.

He can put a switch on the back panel. No GUI challenges involved. Again, look at Dune 3.
