I'm having a problem with my PCR-50. I'm using it through the MIDI in port of my RME Multiface soundcard, NOT through the USB port of my computer. I am attempting to play VSTi synthesizers.

The lowest C sharp key, the lowest E key, and the E key above middle C are all misbehaving. The lowest C sharp key will not trigger any midi notes at all. The other two keys require a very hard hit to get any response at all. All the other keys are performing normally. The effect is present even when transposing into lower or higher octaves.

I have checked the keys in question to be sure there was no velocity offset applied to them, and I have even done a full factory reset of the unit itself. I have also reproduced the problem using multiple VSTi hosts, just to be sure it was not the fault of any particular program in my PC. I have also tried restarting all devices. Nothing has worked.

Anybody else had this problem? Can anybody offer any advice?

Same here - well key G5 very soft touch and it will work after that. untill its switched off.

I have a similar problem. I only use the USB port and 4 of my keys simply don't work. The lowest F#, G#, A# and the second B. Also, my top two E's respond approximately a second later upon striking them. Yeah, the problem still persists even when I change octaves. The keys have been going out one by one. Have you contacted Roland about it?

are they the 'contact bubble' kind that have a strip of little rubber bubbles? those come off and you can clean all your eyelashes out then they work as good as new.

sometimes the resistors on these go, and they're patterned.. i aven't figured that much out yet.. but do clean your rubber bubbly strips.

oh no... i have one since feb.
no problems yet...

oh and i head that some recent year's roland keyboards all will have problems within 3~5 years... because of somekind of material...to get that yamaha key action.... the keys action will get less responsiv.... and eventual stick to the "..." material
yamaha's still the best??

Yup, count me in! My PCR 30 has started doing this as well with 3 of the notes. I'm well pissed of because it's just out of warrenty and I've hardly used the bloody thing. I hope there's a response from edirol on this........

Oh that's a real pity!

I own one yet without problems but it is fairly new and I hate to know that it won't live long. One broken key is enough to kick a controller out of the window!

Yup....same here,

PCR-50 / B3 Key does not respond to full velocity anymore...not too happy to read this thread, now I know I can expect more of the same

You guys just made my day.....thought I was one of the few who had this problem.

I just got my PC-50 fixed a couple of months ago.

Seems that some early rubber pads become defective.

They know about this already.

You need to get a Warrenty Authorization Number and then ship it back to Edirol for repairs.

You need to talk to Steve Hullman (Edirol Repairs), at (USA)1-800-369-6191 (EXT 208) for info.

I always read these things after I buy

I had the Keystation Pro-88 and was so dissapointed I researched really well/ I did not need 88 keys anyway,

Settled for the Edirol PCR30, cheaper and to the point. Saving up for the S90 by Yamaha for a full keybed.

I only use the PCR30 for chords in X-Phraze

But I have no problems at all with the keys so far

Only 2 months old though.

Some of the keys on my Edirol PCR-50 are dying!
