Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

I have hit a brick wall (limiter) cause I have too many plug-ins :x

What it means is that I cannot get anywhere with any song as I spend ages trying out different plug-ins on patterns/sounds, get bored and then close down me seq.

What to do :help:

I need to cull the plugs, but how?

The only things that I have bought - EnergyXT and Z3ta+ - are staying, but how do I delete the others to get a reasonable amount?

Each one makes a different noise, that with a bit of tweaking, can create a great noise. But where do I start? What happens if I delete a synth without really trying it and then never find out how good it was? Is there a point in having loads of reverbs?

Should I start from the beginning and delete them all and build them up, but in a controlled way?

How :help:

What I do is: look through the tunes I've made in the past 3 months. See what plugins I've used the most, keep the top 20, archive the rest. For me, at least, it works a treat.

I'm down to 8 VSTi and about 15 VST, and I'm happy there - that's more processing power than I've ever had in hardware. :D

Not downloading Every Bloody Thing(tm) also helps!

Hey that is quite a cool way of doing things! Keeps you on your toes and allows you to expand and contract your arsenal as and when :D

HI

Stop using FREEBIES!

OR

Only use Free FX.

AND

BUY whatever you plan on using, Zeta is too hungry to have multiple instances running, unless you program or search for frugal (less CPU intensive) pre-sets, so go buy a couple of good app's and stick with em.

Not knocking freebies, but as you have a problem with them buying might be an option; saying that Synth1 has a massive library of pre-sets and is lite on CPU, along with something like eJ and Bazzoid - what else would you need?

I say keep the free FX as IMO they don't take up so much time, although again you will have to search out the less intensive CPU ones - Sinus do some nice reverb/Compressors.

Flipper.
