Just wanted some input on both to help me make a purchase decision. Your comments can be on any aspect of these two or a similar alternative.

MashTactic about USD 49.48

F-Rex $96. On sale till Sept. 10, 2018 for $19
https://internetmusicsoft.com/frex/index.html

I do mostly ambient and experimental music but respond to any music genre.

Will like to hear your opinion on MashTactic and F-Rex.  :)

Not forgetting Roland R-Mix.

Discontinued now, a cut down version was bundled with Sonar.

F-Rex requires online activation and the authorisation is saved to the system drive, no option to save to a precise location or USB stick.

Uses about 3% on my i7 on low quality
92.9ms latency reported

The results are very 'spectral soudning when using a narrow frequency selection.

Doesnt sound any better or worse the R-Mix, from memory.

Similar results can be obtained with free sofware such as DtBlkFx but you dont get same the graphical control.

Would be nice to know how it compares with MashTactic

Get the F-Rex or wait for a MAshTactic sale?
OR
Avoid both

Frex only has one zone, Mashtastic has 8

Definitely let us know which is best. I have heard of mashtactic, but I use XTRAX STEMS and TRAX Pro for my mashups.

I missed the sale in 2018. But F-Rex is currently on sale for $57.60

I bought it. I think they were probably the developers of the original R-MIX software. They seem so similar.

I think the $19 sale was back in September of 2018.
I went ahead and bought it at the current $59 (dntcrck website) sale price. It’s slightly less, $57.60, on the company’s website.

When was the last update of F-Rex? There's not a lot of independent information out there about it.

I demoed both Mashtactic and Audionamix ADX TRAX and neither of them impressed me enough to pay, not when I already have Izotope Music Rebalance. They didn't differentiate enough imho.

There's also Lakeside Audio's Isola Pro FX: http://www.lakeside-audio.de/isolaprofx.php

These are spectral filtering tools, plenty of them about. Others don't present the same control as the above mentioned, they have more rudimentary GUIs but quite easy to construct something with them in a modular host that would mimic these tools, just lacking this specific type of visual feedback.
