RIP.
He had such a great gift for writing interesting harmonies and melodies.

I think he explored about every genre in musical scores. People celebrate him for Sergio Leone's movies and the awarded soundtracks, but he left his mark in so many italian films from the early 60s.
Comedy, drama, documentary, erotic, "giallo"...
Thanks, Maestro.

A True Giant.
Just stop and think of the range of work he produced for all kinds of genres of films, etc. for all these years------just staggeringly good, but also how consistently good it was. Even though the general world may sometimes think of him as the "spaghetti Western" guy (and I love those), he never got boxed in. Every film I ever saw with his music in it was elevated by that music.
So many beautiful moments in his work, like others have mentioned above. A true gift for composing music.
I will always remember probably my first introduction to him in "real time" when I was a kid and actually starting to care about noticing peoples names on films, and who did what, and it was when I heard his music for Orca the Killer Whale. Yes, a great cast of actors in an admittedly B type movie, but his music in that just affected me as a kid watching that movie, and from then on, I kept track of him whenever I saw a movie with his music.
Thanks for all the great music you left us, Sir.

As I've posted before over the years I've tried to seek out the lesser known films that he scored. The theme from the one I saw most recently:

There are still plenty to go...

He made music for the spaghetti western cool.
I cant imagine some of those movies without his music.

My favourite film of all time, The good, the bad and the ugly. Great story line, great acting, but what made the film extra special was the music. The music in that film captured the emotion perfectly in each scene the man was a genius.
Why the hell did I come back to this God forsaken forum?

Just to pick a few that illustrate that from the period when he was scoring some of the Leone films...Pacific05 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 4:19 pmI think he explored about every genre in musical scores. He even got to include a laugh when the credits get to his name in the last one.
