Was so sure of getting capture midi and extended color palette. Oh well hopes high for 5.1 :) A good update nevertheless.

Yeah I would have really liked Midi capture. And wish the Show Page was a more integrated clip launcher that could be used for composition/experimentation :-(

$150 from the PreSonus shop. $126 from JRRShop with code GROUP. :tu:
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

I'm glad they really took MIDI seriously with this release with the notation editor, articulation/keyswitching, MPE, External Instrument support, and MMC/MTC. The lack of that stuff was a huge part of the reason I didn't upgrade to version 4 and bailed on Studio One in favor of Cubase, then Reaper.

I really dig Reaper and expect it'll remain my primary DAW, but I'll definitely be upgrading my Studio One license this time.

Personably I find the show page more interesting/useful in a fundamentally linear DAW (plus I own Live and Bitwig anyway so have that covered!), once again proving you can never please everyone!

The arranger track and scratchpad are both very powerful (and updated) for composition.

Purchased from JRR Shop but the Presonus site goes from being down entirely to super slow. Must be getting slammed. No biggie. Just throwing that out there in case people are having trouble.

Still stuck with the same god awful GUI and tiny aliased fonts... arrggg... New fX look like they are 15 years out of date...

No Atom SQ announcement? And it's still not on their web page even? :scared:

I'm gonna check the v5 demo, but there's literally NOTHING that I wanted, maybe except for a filter working for external sidechain signal in Compressor now... :(

This release felt like a "catch up" release. The last few major release cycles felt like they were trying to compete with Pro Tools on the audio and mixing side. This release feels like a "now we need to start catching up to Cubase on the MIDI side." And I don't mean that as they're just mimicking other DAWs, but rather trying to find a way to incorporate features from those DAWs in a very Studio One way. But the Notation (finally), Key Switches/Articulation, MPE support, external instrument support that's all huge. Feels like they're taking MIDI seriously for the first time in a long time. Hopefully a Logical Editor, Event List, and PRV Smart Tool is next on the list for the MIDI side. A LOT of people are going to benefit from that stuff, especially in the longterm as they're closing the gap on the MIDI side of the house with Cubase.

Control Room was another nice feature add that had nothing to do with MIDI. Now if they'd just add stereo balance panners to the mixer and post-pan metering!

Then you save some money this year :-)

I'm interested in the MPE, hardware instrument integration and the articulation features. I already own Notation but I am more likely to use it if its integrated...curious about the 'show' page (Mainstage?!)

Same. I also assume the sustain pedal will actually work with notation (Notion didn't record sustain pedal - drove me nuts).
