Help with Yamaha HS5’s

I’m trying to play music through my Yamaha HS5’s with my iPhone. It sounds extremely muddy and most instruments and vocals are inaudible. The weird thing is that the speakers work perfectly fine with my girlfriends phone, but not mine. Any help is really appreciated.

That sounds to me like the centre channel has been cancelled out, which is usually an issue with the cable sitting inside the headphone jack incorrectly.

^ That does sound like it could be the case. Any time I've experienced such issues, it was something along the lines. Testing with a few more phones/devices should showcase where the issue lies (if you have access to a few more devices)
