Most exciting feature for me are Aux Channels. Using external hardware has always been a pin in S1. You had to create a midi instrument, then an audio track. Now we can have that in one channel.

Yeah the external instruments changes look really useful, also from the quick demo I saw online it seemed to suggest you can use external effects as part of an aux send loop too so you can reroute through a hardware reverb etc. That could be fun. And expensive.apoclypse wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2020 9:03 pm Most exciting feature for me are Aux Channels. Using external hardware has always been a pin in S1. Isn't that the case in most DAWs, though?apoclypse wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2020 9:03 pmMost exciting feature for me are Aux Channels. Using external hardware has always been a pin in S1. You had to create a midi instrument, then an audio track. Now we can have that in one channel.
Also, are they actually connected? So if you select MIDI track in arranger the Aux track gets selected in console? Or if I'd drag an audio FX onto the MIDI track, will it be added to the Aux track? I was frankly very surprised in the way they've handled it. It's much more elegant in Bitwig, for example.

Wasn't that the point of the Pipeline XT?apoclypse wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2020 9:03 pm Most exciting feature for me are Aux Channels. Using external hardware has always been a pin in S1. You had to create a midi instrument, then an audio track. Now we can have that in one channel.

This is getting ridiculous - like all of you I couldn't register the upgrade (or it seemed like I can't), but I just received an e-mail from Presonus thanking me for ...registering my Studio One 5
Now where do I d/l it?!

Lord have mercy - FINALLY. Same as antic, got an email thanking me but couldn't download it. After the 500th refresh of the "products" screen in my.presonus, there it was - along with a download link. Downloaded and installed - activated and working. Looks like the website is working efficiently now as well.

It's like they added ALL of the top requested features EXCEPT for #3: Custom Colours.EnochLight wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2020 9:33 pmHmmm... Why?

I wonder if the Studio One 5 upgrade has caused an outage at JRR Shop:

They probably should not have disabled the FORUM and GROUP checkout discount codes.

Pipeline is only for hardware audio effects it doesn't work in "empty" Instrument tracks if I'm not mistaken.THE INTRANCER wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2020 9:17 pmWasn't that the point of the Pipeline XT?apoclypse wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2020 9:03 pm Most exciting feature for me are Aux Channels. Same here, I have to say it's one of the most unexciting releases ever...I'd struggle to justify throwing 50 quid at it. Version 4 wasn't hugely exciting but it did have things that I wanted and have found to be useful...but version 5, has pretty much nothing...worth talking about.EnochLight wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2020 9:33 pmHmmm...
