Anyone much experience with them? Tried to contact them through email and FB messages but get no response (and this is a sales enquiry, y'know, potentially spending money with them not a support call
) Wondering if I should take it as a sign not to bother with them, think they must be the only UK store I've never dealt with.
Cheers.

Yeah, I've bought from them a few times, when they had a shop in Clifton (Bristol) and online. Last time I did a few months ago it appeared to be a re-sell for musicstore.de. Item was a bit delayed compared to local shipping but it all arrived fine. Never needed to return or seek support though, so couldn't comment about that. (There seems to be some unhappy customers on review sites but I suppose there always is).

I used to buy from their brick-and-mortar store (London), and have bought from their online store...though not for some time. Only ever had positive experiences, including regarding overseas shipping, and handling returns of overseas shipping.
I know that recently I experienced huge delays in receiving email communication from Cash Converters, due to Corona backlogs. But they answered my phone call within a few seconds

Used to be good back in the day. About a year ago I tried to buy something online and got messed around by musicstore.de ; they did a bad job of keeping me informed about shipment delays and in the end I cancelled the order.

Terrible company both before and after the take over.
They would regularly take orders for items not in stock and then make you wait for a refund (up to a week) so I stopped ordering from them ages ago.
More recently I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a Digitakt that was showing as in stock in the UK, and TWO DAYS later I got a shipping email, from Germany. It took another 4 days to arrive (ok, CV delays), but when it did arrive I received a box with a hole in it, no Digitakt. It took me a month to eventually get a refund via paypal (thank fvck I used them), in which time DV didn't respond at all. Actually, they did respond once saying 'they were looking into it'.
Even before that it was an awful company though. I turned up at their West London branch once at 9.15am on a Saturday morning (they were supposed to open at 9am) and 20 minutes later the 3 staff all turned up stinking off booze and said 'oh, you're keen' to me. So I asked to demo monitor speakers very loud for the next two hours, and then left.
Probably.....the worst retailer on the planet?

Yeah, I dealt with them a bit before, and a bit less after, their takeover. Used to be where I'd order audio kit from by default for work.
Unfortunately my most recent order sat in limbo for a fortnight because one item wasn't in stock; had to email them to find out WTF was going on, and then prompt them to send what they did have. That was slightly annoying because I had thought it was in stock when I placed the order, otherwise I would have bought the stuff elsewhere alongside something else I was ordering.
But they did send out the in-stock items straight away after I asked, and they did send an email at the end of last week about the remaining item being expected to be in stock as of yesterday. Ive actually just emailed them to confirm when I'll get it.
So, 5/10 on proactive, 7/10 on reactive and followup. So far.

Seems that in the eleven-or-so years since I used them, things might have gone down the shitter. Perhaps I was just one of a lucky few

Just got an order tracking number for that last item.

From my perspective they are the only company I've ever used that have screwed up every single order I've made. Half a dozen orders over a decade perhaps?el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Wed Jul 08, 2020 12:51 pmSeems that in the eleven-or-so years since I used them, things might have gone down the shitter. I would imagine over that same decade I've placed 150-200 orders with various companies and had less issues from other companies put together, the worst being KMR in the UK.
When alternatives exist, I see no reason to use DV ever again.

They had an Acton store. Was I sorry when it closed? Well, rude staff and lack of goods available for sale aside, I did manage to buy a cable there. It was "reasonably priced" and I could walk in, pick it up, pay and walk away on my way home from work. What could go wrong? I did manage to prove that what I was trying to do made sense but I think it failed pretty quickly thereafter. The Maplin of music hardware. So no, not sorry to see the back of them.
Oh - I might have bought my first Kontakt upgrade boxed from them, too. I'm still using Kontakt, so that might could as a success?
