Its owned by a company registered in the US, but the person who created it was English.
The 'declared' English spoken in America is not the same English as spoken in the UK.The declared language spoken in America and on KVR is English.
Whilst KVR is an English-language forum, there's never ever been a declaration here that all pronunciations must be anglicized, especially not proper nouns. And you're not the one who gets to dictate that it has.
Except where we dinnae, of course.Since we are speaking in English to each other, we use English words and pronunciation rules.
False. If it were intended to be pronounced Kanif, they would have spelled it that way while converting from Finnish to English.
Fallacious logic. The conversion of Chinese words into English spellings is neither consistent, nor consistently anglicized.Just as many Chinese words are phonetically converted into English spelling for the sake of pronunciation, the same is true here.
Evidence : "szechuan"
Fallacious ad hominem.I'm sure you're a rebel though, speaking in a way no one can understand you, so you can show everyone that the rules don't apply to you.
Which didnt happen. And you dont get to sell how a foreign speaker should pronounce their name. But I'm not going to buy into a foreign speaker telling me their name is Knif, but is pronounced 'Elephant'.
An American can feel free to pronounce American English words however they want. However, that American arguing that a foreign proper noun should not be pronounced properly because they consider American English pronunciation to be binding outwith American English is quite profoundly ignorant/It's "Nif", and "Nifonium" as American English pronunciation goes.
With rather nasty xenophobic undertones, as well.
Its not English. Pronounce it how its pronounced.Words are appropriated to the spoken language, if it's English spell it Kanifonium, or pronounce it "Nifonium".
