yes, it sounds a bit different at 44.1khz, but still it seems it's part of the sound. As said, either a bug or an oversight or they intentionally have their OSCs running at 44.1

I tried at 192khz and these artifacts are still there.

i get noticably less artefacts at 192kdermage wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 3:44 pm I tried at 192khz and these artifacts are still there.

apparently pitch-bend response is also different at 192k

For mirroring, you'd expect peaks to be moving opposite to pitch bend - I'm not seeing that happening. It was something you could see easily on ANA1 and PolyAna, which were notorious for aliasing but as far as I can tell on Knifonium, peaks are moving with pitch.
There is clearly some high-frequency noise that might be some form of intermodulation distortion – and it cleans up slightly with feedback – but it doesn't look like it's aliasing per se.

In bx_oberhausen these artifcats are not there on 44.1khz. And more or less the same people programmed Knifonium. I don't think bx went for worse quality within a year.Ploki wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 3:50 pmi get noticably less artefacts at 192kdermage wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 3:44 pm I tried at 192khz and these artifacts are still there.

There's some other reason to it.

check the latest clip i posted. on the first clip, 48k, you can hear mirroring, on the second clip, 192k, it's cleaned significantly. (i resampled it to put it in the same file)Gamma-UT wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 3:50 pm For mirroring, you'd expect peaks to be moving opposite to pitch bend - I'm not seeing that happening. some of the noise that you're talking about remains which i believe is a part of the design (and it sounds quite meaty tbh)
Idk. pitch bend response changing with sampling rate and filter-knob lag seem like pretty bad oversights on a synth.dermage wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 3:53 pm In bx_oberhausen these artifcats are not there on 44.1khz. that's more than a couple fishy things going on with it.
I could absolutely see them go for worse quality within a year.
big boss says: "we need this out by friday, we need to make money."
wouldn't be the first rushed PA release.

Yep, started some tracks.
As said, it's inspirational and doesn't end it the usual expected sounds.
Nice addition to the synth box.
Wouldn't pay more than $75 for this though.

i think he just wants to hear the synth in action is all. hes a fan of the synth from previous comments, so that would be my guessdermage wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 4:15 pm lol? I will post them when they have a release. Not sure what you're talking about, is this a troll attempt?![]()

Alright. Maybe I'll record a line I did later. I'm sorry if this was harsh, It just read like sarcasmvurt wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 4:39 pmi think he just wants to hear the synth in action is all. hes a fan of the synth from previous comments, so that would be my guessdermage wrote: Mon Jul 13, 2020 4:15 pm lol? Even if there is aliasing (I'm doubtful...), I would hope that people would stop complaining about it. There are older VA's which alias like mad, and they sound absolutely wonderful. On the other side, there are those super polished, clean, sterile, you name it, modern VA's which make me yawn every time I boot them up.
I never bothered about the harmonics in Massive X, and I never even noticed anything in this synth or bx_oberhausen. Seriously, I doubt that any serious musician uses a spectrometer as the first action when he just downloaded a newly released synth. Sometimes it's really better to use your ideas. Maybe it's even those artefacts which make the synth sound interesting.
