Things like that aren't even in my mind when I make music... it's all about getting good sounds down. I don't care if they have been done before, or if I use synth XY which was used in track X or Y. I could not care less really.discogsaddict wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 1:22 pmThey all sound very good these days. I wasnt trying to offend or put down any users of those synths.Spring Goose wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:16 amI agree with you, but i understand discogsaddict's perspective.chk071 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:04 amFor me, it's not about being different or similar, it's about sound.discogsaddict wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 8:43 am Adam Szabo Viper is probably my most used go to for anything synth. Love the sound and the layout just works for me. I did used to own a virus c so it makes sense.
Also i notice many others tend to stick with sylenth, serum or spire. I like to be different.
I'm a bit like that with tracks when i was a DJ, but i'm not like that with my synth choices.
But yeah i guess it is similar to that dj mindset of finding more obscure tracks.
If within a genre you find most colleagues using the same tools or techniques, its nice not to follow the heard
Guess we're all different in that regard.

Yeah, I recently bought a second license of Monoment Bass for my band-mate, as a birthday present, and Plugin Boutique warned me several times that I already owned the product, which is really cool.WatchTheGuitar wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 1:34 pmI have twice gone on Plugin Boutique, browsed the deals page and tried to buy the same sample pack I already bought from them. Twice!
I'm just thankful that if you've bought something from them and are logged in it warns you that you've already bought it from them and asks you "are you sure?"

Well the point was if any one is buying that many soft synths, they could easily still have bought a lot of soft synths AND some nice other hardware synths. One good hands on hardware synth is a good thing to have.BONES wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 11:46 pm Can't do much with two hardware monosynths. I was at least trying to find some hardware that would give you the same capability. Maybe Analog Four is a better fit but for the price of a Subsequent 37 you can have that plus a Model: Samples or Model: Cycles and an Analog Four will shit all over a Subsequent 37 (I have an Analog Keys and my band mate has a Subsequent 37). Expensive synths make the point a little better but I was trying to be reasonable because you don't have to spend Moog money to get amazing hardware.
And you what? Analog 4 over Sub 37.... But yeah fair enough a workstation would cover some ground of 'a lot' but it doesn't have to be completely either or. I said sub 37 as it would be a great synth to have if you only had one hardware synth

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Sadly, Hink, there is no upside for me in buying you a birthday present, whereas I can use Monoment Bass a lot more myself now that he also has it. I'd have thought you'd realise by now that I am not a nice person, I'm always looking out for my own interests.
No, it would be a terrible synth to have if you only had one hardware synth. It is way too limited. If you only had one hardware synth, you'd want something digital, or an Analog Four/Keys or something with a bit of versatility. Sub 37 is something you might get once you had the basics covered. If I decided to only keep one hardware synth, it would be a toss-up between Ultranova and Analog Keys for me.

you said however within the past 2 months that you didn't like monoment bass after all and you regret buying it, cause it's just a gimmick, or something like that, but I recall this event clearly.
now you buy it again as birthday gift to bandmates so you can use it more often.
quite incredible.

Yes, isn't it an affront to decency that someone might actually change their mind about something? Unprecedented! Interestingly, it was after making that comment that I resolved to have another go at it (because it's a bad workman who blames his tools). I managed to get it working really well in a couple of the covers I've been working on. I think previously I had probably been trying to use it for things that it is less well suited to but, now that I've found it's niche, I am definitely keen to start using it more.acYm wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 4:27 amyou said however within the past 2 months that you didn't like monoment bass after all and you regret buying it, cause it's just a gimmick, or something like that, but I recall this event clearly.

then why don't you fully commit this time, declare your faith and everlasting recognition of its quality, and put it in your signature, I'd see it right in between vacuum and arcsyn perhaps.

I try to make my own synth sounds as much as possible. Mostly edit from organic source material and then the samples end up in Kontakt. Although I would say MSoundFactory is an awesome synth that gets lots of use!
