Point on, chk071. The difference is in the way you express your disappointment. If you want to chime in and tell how Studio One could be better for you and give examples by comparison with Reaper, that's more than fine with me, but saying Reaper is better, Studio One is unusable, that's kinda extreme and feels like you just promote Reaper.

Where did I say S1 would be unuseable???nIGhT-SoN wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 9:22 am ...but saying Reaper is better, Studio One is unusable, ...
Didn´t I always spoke about how it feels to ME... I never wrote about being like that in general...

Ok, but, why? I switched from Reaper to Cubase years ago. Never felt the need to go into a Reaper thread and tell the people why Cubase works so much better (for me).
If you like Reaper better, just go ahead and use it. I can't comprehend that at all, but, hey, we all work differently.

I am a big fan of Studio One and have been trying out 5 via a Sphere subscription. I'm not posting this to complain, but to help others who might be interested. I have found out that Studio One cannot sync via midi clock to external devices, only midi time code. Many popular controllers/sequencers are not capable of generating MTC, including Keystep, Beatstep Pro, Octatrack, and others. If you see that S1-5 can sync to external devices now, just be aware that your device will have to be able to generate MTC, not just midi clock. I had hoped for S1-to be the center of my growing hobby studio, but I much prefer being able to control tempo and clock from hardware than software, so it won't currently work for this with the gear I have.

Nudging the MIDI is not a solution now that we have the score editor, which was another highly anticipated composer's feature. If you move the notes too far off the grid then it will destroy the score view by adding short notes and ties everywhere.5Lives wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2020 3:51 pm The irony - they add a bunch of composer-related features...and still have a deal breaking bug for composers given many sample libraries (especially for strings) require a track delay. You can nudge the MIDI but most of us prefer track delay as you can easily turn it off and on when needed.

Yeap, that's true. They are not good. Just a bit too fast attack on a compessor and it already distorts badly.Trancit wrote: Mon Jul 20, 2020 11:06 pm I am now very disappointed by the fat channel plugins...
Not only that they are distorting like hell if you hit them just a tad to hot (i.e. never experienced this with any other SSL buscomp clone but the Presonus Brit Channel distorts like crazy if you pass the -18db RMS mark) but all the additional comps do not react at all to any sidechain input...
Tube P1B Compressor is good, but it is a paid addon.

Can somebody point me if it is possible to set midi parts separately? For example, I have one track with a drum part and one track with bass part. When I set Drum track midi part to drums(triangle notes) and color notes by a pitch and switch to the Bass track, it shows the same info (triangle notes) and colors by pitch. In Reaper each track has its own view. Maybe I miss something in Studio One settings but didn't find how to set up this.

It’s supposed to remember on its own. Sometimes it gets stuck in one view or the other in V5. Usually if you double click on an instrument part it seems to reset and start remembering your choice again, at least for me.Stan Navi wrote: Sat Jul 25, 2020 7:31 am Can somebody point me if it is possible to set midi parts separately? Do you normally start a song with a template, or start the song with a drum track? I think it has something to do with templates or which view you start the song with.

I just did a test on the Brit Comp and FET and I don't experience any distortion. The only difference I've seen is it needs a lot more gain in comparison with other plugins. With similar settings it reacts like IK Multimedia plugins.Igro wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2020 9:05 pmYeap, that's true. They are not good. I have been working with Studio One 5 Artist for a couple of weeks now, only to find out now that I cannot find the Multi-Instrument anywhere.... was it dropped from Artist in V5, or was it never in Artist anyway? The Presonus site did not give any more insight

If you mean adding more than one instrument on the same track, that was never in the Artist version. That's because it's connected to the Extended FX Chains, which is only in the Pro version.

Remixing some stems in 5.0, trying to break it and/or logging any bugs I come across. Mixed in headphones so caveat if it sucks ass on speakers.
Also take note that I built myself a scenes toolbar for v5.
