Is there a written Change Log somewhere ? Not seeing it at the website yet. Last one is for 1.7.

So far I'm loving the update just want to make sure I don't miss something new. Thanks Parawave. :tu:

I've kind of had Rapid in the back of my mind for a while. Finally demoed it today, instantly loved it. While I wait for the factory library to download, I have one comment / request:
exmatproton wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2016 11:19 am 1) How about some more macro's? 3 is a bit on the low side. I would suggest 6 or 8.
^ is from a few years ago. Rapid seems like it would really benefit from more macro controls. And I'm looking at my Korg nanoKontrol with 8 faders and 8 knobs, thinking the faders are perfect for the layer level controls, and the knobs would be perfect for 8 macros...

Site seems to have a set of hidden pages.
How I got to it was from the plugin, Choose help, choose user guide and it was next to the user guide.

I’m using this on two computers. What’s the best way to ensure that my presets and samples are available on both? I was thinking of moving some of the content folders to Dropbox... it looks like there’s an XML file for the sample library though, I don’t want that getting overwritten.

Anyway, are any of you regularly using Rapid on two computers? How do you make the content available to both?

Post

I do use two computers, a mac and a pc, but I only started using Rapid today. So thus far it is simple stuff like settings I have copied. My whole system is networked and I just manually copy stuff across from pc to mac or vice versa currently. At some point I will probably do like I do with many of my other synths, write a job in dillobits insync on pc that will look at the two main folders for Rapid and sync them. HD/Library/Parawave/Rapid on Mac and C:\ProgramData\Parawave\Rapid (seems like the factory stuff) and your Document Folder\Parawave\Rapid (for your own stuff) on PC.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

It's a really good synth and it sounds great despite having modest CPU usage. Don't quote me on this but I think they have a "free lifetime updates" policy at the expense of "no resale". Personally I think this is a fair trade because there is an almost fully-featured demo that you can use as much as you want and it's clear that they are in active development for several years. This isn't one of the (many) abandonware VSTs that won't get new features. At the sale price I find it very tempting indeed!

How does this new version compare to Serum's CPU? I can't download the demo/try the demo at the moment...
If I remember correct, the older version I demoed had about same CPU as Serum, maybe a bit lower. Was just wondering how the addition of granular etc affected the CPU?

That depends on many factors, but over here Rapid uses less CPU.

In the wavetable blowout thread from last year the OP did a cpu test where Rapid emerged as the lightest and Serum the second heavyest after Pigments among all the leading contenders.

The CPU is amazing light for Rapid even with the nice analogue modelled filters in 1.7 and granular being added in 1.8, its one of its killer features- you can just forget about CPU!
