Looks like you've posted most of the new stuff here already. "What's new?" video. Changelog. Granular Elements. What is left?

In case you didn't notices, there's also a summer sale!
Hope it is still July and summery enough. Even in scandinavia : )

Hearing some nasty loop cutting off on the Pads - Distant Pulsate patch for example by Toby Emerson. Identified that this is fixed by going to the second layer and adjusting the Side Chain level parameters to something better or simply by turning off the side chain altogether.

There really should be a rolloff knob to eliminate the glitchy cut off sound you hear, so you have smooth side chaining of the sounds.

Oh!! I’m definitely copping some expansions that are on sale! I’m so impressed with this update and synth in general. It’s about tied with Avenger for me as my favorite synth.

Post

If anyone here is or part of Daydreamz studios. I am loving your patches in the granular Expansion bank. Can't seem to find you online though, beyond a games company in India? Not sure if it is the same company.
Was so inspired that I just bought your Spire bank, which is the only other work of yours I could find online.
Mirko/Parawave, would love more Daydreamz studios stuff in your factory bank and would love an expansion bank from them.

Got to 'love' the cpu meter on Rapid :). Mine never goes above 4%, usually between 0-1% even when Cubendo's asio load meter is screaming :)
What is it actually measuring? (yes I know what the manual says it does)

I really like Rapid very much, it's one of my absolute favorite synths and I have very much "alternatives", also Avenger :dog:. I bought Rapid by release and at that time I was mostly active in a german hardware forum, because I worked also with hardware. Parawave opened a thread there to introduce Rapid and that was really brave, because in that forum the term "EDM" for example was not very popular and I don't make EDM, too. But I bought it, because the workflow was and is really "rapid" and meanwhile I use this synth in many different genres, especially for hard stuff, because that synth really has balls! :tu:

What CPU are you using?

Post

To be clear, I wasn't complaining about the asio load of Rapid..... it sure uses less than some of its 'competitors' like Avenger for example.
Of course no one would complain if for the same quality you could even get more optimization. :)

I was just making the point that the cpu meter on Rapid, seems very removed from reality on my system.

GUI lags with OpenGL render mode are still not fixed in Cubase 10.5.20. Seriously? I reported this behaviour almost a half year ago and i was assured by support that they will fix it in the upcoming update. I still have to use super-slow CPU mode to render. I was waiting this update, but the result is.... you know. very, very sad and disapointing.

Check out the cinematic xt. Most presets are from Matthias. I know, you don't like my work but I hope you can also live with some presets from me, which are also included. ;-)
There are a lot of "Splitted" presets from Matthias which are very rich!

Peace!

Well, this update got me to try the Rapid demo once again (last time I tried it was v1.4 or something like that). While it has evolved nicely I still have the same issues with it as I've always had. It's just too simplistic.

There are a lot of basic tricks you can not do and the filters are a weak point. Yes, there are some quite nice LowPass filters in that list but a very limited section of highpass and bandpass ones. Would really want higher quality, more organic bandpass and HP versions.

The modulation system is very basic and is the main frustration point for me. Rapid really needs a 3rd "modifier" slot for the modulation matrix so that you could more easily modulate things via other modulators and modifiers. Also it's frustrating that some of the modulation ranges aren't doubled.. for instance key tracking. Now you'll have to use up multiple mod matrix slots to do some pretty simple things like keyboard scaling of various things.

.. and I'm really missing a way to do a custom shape of any modulator output as you can in Alchemy, VPS Avenger, Pigments, Zebra etc.

In general, this is a pretty simple thing and it quickly frustrates me when I want to create dynamic very playable presets that change a lot depending on velocity and over the keyboard range.

Oh well.. maybe once it hits version 2.0 it'll become a bit more synth-tweaker friendly?
