I had the same thing but also ended up with tinnitus.
I stopped using in ear bud headphones and make sure to dry my ears after washing. Both these helped immensely.
If it goes from itchy to sore I put a little cortisone cream on a swab. That was a tip from an ENT nurse I knew.
