yes i meant 'pollute' but it was close enough. nowhere on the Zebralette page does it say that with your download, you will also get a trial version of Zebra that you cannot uninstall without uninstalling everything. because i would have never bothered downloading it then!

You simply uninstall u-he's plugins by removing them from the respective folders where you installed them (that'll be your custom VST2 folder, and C:\ProgramFiles\Common Files\VST3 for the VST3). So, you can just remove Zebra once you installed Zebralette.

Apologies if you misunderstood my post above BTW. I didn't mean to laugh about your point, it's just that I expected people to jump on you, when you post stuff like that. The u-he fans are quite sensitive.

This is exactly the way the Installation Manager from Plugin Alliance does it.

I am with the rest of kvr, there is no excuse for the IK way to install plugins. Adding a plugin selection dialog with a simple option to select all plugins (or start with this as default) would no user make unhappier as with the current solution. So IK is either lazy or the marketing department decided that's it okay to steal time from some of there (potential) users.

Let's face it. It's to make people try out the other plugins, and to create sales. Which is fair enough. It's just that for me personally, it's annoying, because I don't need that.

i was able to easily uninstall the software (once i realized i had to uninstall all of it), but it took a bit longer to get the Zebra listings out of my Maschine NKS library

ohh I definitely agree with you on IK. Said that earlier in the thread.

However what I interpreted fese as saying is that It is next to impossible to find an installer/downloader that pleases everyone.

Maybe you can remove or fix things, but your time looking for a solution costs money too.

It's also a bit disrespectful to bloat other people's SSD's with maybe some GB as a marketing strategy.

I bought some beat magazine only to try some free IK multimedia free effect and it installed loads of software, required even name of my dog to register, etc. Instant uninstall and company blacklisted for me.

Very true but that's exactly why I started this thread.
The calculation on their end is that this might help make some sales. But I for one am saying that this will also cost you some sales so maybe take that into consideration for your cost/benefit analysis.

And for those saying that you can't please everyone, sure that's of course true. But you can take into consideration consistent customer feedback on one particular issue that is easily remedied.
Maybe you won't please everyone but will you provide better service to a big portion of your users without sacrificing much.

Surprisingly enough Plugin Alliance is an example of a company that has really nailed it.
They have a universal installer that installs only what you own (if I am not mistaken), but they also provide individual installers for all of their plugins, and they allow for offline installation.
Plenty to be critical of with Plugin Alliance in general but they have certainly figured out this part of the puzzle and rarely if ever get complaints on the matter.

That will remove the actual plugins, but not the NKS data. NKS presets still show up in Maschine and KK even after deleting the plugin's data folder, but if you try to load them it will show a 'plugin not found' error.
It requires manually deleting stuff from the Windows registry (in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments) to completely get rid of the NKS presets, which is not a very elegant solution.

The one that annoys me is Melda Production. You have to download their entire collection and yes it does allow you to choose which plugin(s) you install but....even if you only install one plugin the installer spews all the support and preset files for every one of their many plugins in multiple locations all over your hard drive.

I only own MReverb so that is hundreds of useless files for plugins I don't even own. If I remember correctly it's over 500 files.

When asked why he said "because it's easier for him". I haven't purchased anything from him since and don't even bother to install MReverb these days.....

It’s also about ethics, and whether a company wants to be just another company when it comes to installing and uninstalling (the average isn’t very good in the industry for small companies on this one specific thing), to being “that company” that tries to take advantage of the user to maybe make a sale through tricks and gimmicks rather than quality products and ethical behavior.

For example, IK plugin quality seems to be pretty high now. Maybe they can stop with the cheap marketing antics, too, and change the perception of potential customers.

It says right at the top on the Zebralette page:
Zebralette is included with the Zebra2 download and is installed at the same time.
