Tracktion was £50 / $80 / €80 when released in November 2002; adjusted for inflation, that's $115 in 2020.
A brand new copy of Waveform Pro (basic) will set you back $119 in 2020.

I distinctly remember paying close to $900 for the full Logic Audio Platinum package. There must've been other components that drove the price that high.

You used to have to pay for the embedded plug in s separately, that might be it.Tronam wrote: Fri Jul 31, 2020 6:30 am I distinctly remember paying close to $900 for the full Logic Audio Platinum package. There must've been other components that drove the price that high.

Mar 10, 2001 - Mark of the Unicorns Digital Performer 2.72 $795. I got a crossgrade deal for about $350 at the time.
I also got a crossgrade on Reason ($199) for weirdly enough owning Cycling 74's Pluggo, I think they were both distributed by Steinberg at the time?

I remember paying that. It was close to $1000, somewhere around when Apple took over, I think when you relinquished the key.Tronam wrote: Fri Jul 31, 2020 6:30 am I distinctly remember paying close to $900 for the full Logic Audio Platinum package. I think I bought my first sequencer around 1997-98 or so. Cakewalk 7 (way before Sonar). It was close to $500. I was a complete newb and couldn't figure it out, never recorded anything with it, complete waste. They were having a monthly class for Cubase at Guitar Center for free, so I started attending. Cubase seemed a lot more intuitive so I bought the mid-grade version, for around $400-$500. That was when they had just released the first VST's. Model E which "claimed" to be a Minimoog clone was blowing minds. It was like having infinite amount of Minimoog's at your disposal. For a while there it was a battle between Direct X and Vst plugins. A while after that FL Studio advanced from a simple little drum program to something much much more, and it was reasonably priced and had lifetime updates. I have been using that mostly, since version 3.5.

Bitwig, €389 from the shelf. I planned to grab&go but the salesman kept talking my ears off about BW for about half an hour. The shop was even decorated with Bitwig promo, but that's long ago
