I may see Puppy twice. Their one of the very few bands I've always wanted to see live but haven't yet.
I'm driving down to Charlotte to see them on October 31st - SP on Halloween, how perfect is that!
And if the show is good, really good, I may see them again in Cincy on Nov 15th... or may see Ministry instead... we'll see. It's good to see some bands touring that I actually want to see... it's been quite a while since I've been to a good show.

Now I have a dilemma, do I see Ministry w/ My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult on the 14th of October, or Skinny Puppy on November 10th? Money's tight...
Why couldn't they do a lolli-death-palooka together?
That would be cool... time to "scare" up some cash!

(I kill me.... OK... enough goth jokes...)
I just saw Ministry a week or so ago with My Life In The Thrill Kill Cult. Great show for what it is. But fuckin' A', there are NO dynamics at a Ministry concert. It's just a relentless, sledge hammer to the face. Hey I enjoy a good occasional beating every once in while, like everyone else
Now I'm planning to go to the Las Vegas show for Skinny Puppy (from Salt Lake City, Utah. Yee-haw.

What do you want em to do, man..break off in the middle of the set to do some acousti-folk jug blowing tune about mommma's purse strap snapping in the JC Penny's?toine6 wrote:

I just need a breather every once in a while, you know, to stop and chill, meditate, think about things etc... I guess I don't have the attention span for it. Great great show though, and I'm glad I went, but it was kinda like running a marathon. Glad you did it, and in some ways you love it and want to do it again, but most likely it's just something you want to check off as having been done.
jeez..tourists gouge my comprehension..

Oh & by the by, the last Skinny Puppy show I went to everyone within 50 feet of the stage left covered in animal's blood, so don't forget to wear your galloshes or at least take a raincaot or umbrella, m'kay..?

Hehe. Well I don't want them to suddenly turn into the Alabama Backwood Bastard Sons or anything, but just vary it a little. I really enjoy each song by itself, or in three's or whatever, but 2 1/2 - 3 hours of brickwall is just tiring. I really did enjoy it, but I had to kind of force the love. It's like if someone SCREAMS ALL DAY AT YOU AND NEVER CHANGES THEIR TONE THE WHOLE DAMN TIME!!!!!!!! There's something to be said for dynamics. They could take a little time and make something dark and trecherous, but have it be mostly droning guitars with dark vocal sample in the background and Al talking evily or something. I just think it makes for a better show.sicklecell666 wrote:What do you want em to do, man..break off in the middle of the set to do some acousti-folk jug blowing tune about mommma's purse strap snapping in the JC Penny's?toine6 wrote:

Just got back in town from seeing Puppy in Charlotte on Halloween night. Great show! The place was sold out, and it looked like a good mix of old fans and new.
It was the first time I've seen Puppy live and I was very impressed. I've always been a big fan of Key, but I have a newfound respect for Ogre... he's a very engaging front-man. Injects a lot of emotion into the performance without seeming pretentious... and works the crowd well. Not sure who the drummer was, but wow, that guy gets a workout and seemingly never missed a beat (a definitely challenge with Puppy's music). Lastly the guitarist/bassist fit the live act well.
I've very tempted to see them again in Columbus or Cincy in a couple of weeks - may depend on if I can find someone to go with me.
There was a decent amount of anti-Bush propanda in the show, so it would be interesting to see if the show changes at all after today's election (prob won't change if Bush is relected - but would almost have to change if Kerry is elected).

The drummer was the one from Thrill Kill Kult.
Saw them in St. Louis a couple weeks ago. They were fantastic of course.
I'd go see their Chicago show if I wasn't already going to be there the weekend before that.
A few people actually left when they showed Bush onscreen during "VX Gas Attack", like maybe they weren't expecting SP to be political
