funny question, right?

i have never really been self-conscious about it before i moved to New-Zealand where it appears to be weird to everyone that i whistle just for fun, sub-consciously.

i've so many looks and funny comments. i guess the only time when it was the funnies is when a girl in a cafe turned around and said: "hmmm a whistler... odd" and then i replied "yeah, beware i'm a weirdo" and laughed. then she said "no, it's not bad. just odd these days, it just reminds me of my grand-father"

and the odd part is, i started paying attention to my whistling and it has NOTHING to do with any of my music, not Jazz and not Hip Hop. nothing to do with the music that i listen to the most. so not Jazz, Blues, Funk or Hiphop... it's more Crooner style melodies. and guess what? my Grand Father was the Crooner President, Sinatra-style of cool dude.

Yup. I'm a whistler too. People always say they know when I'm coming!

Strangely, my whistling patterns mirror your own--crooner rather than inspired by my own music. Sometimes I'll go classical too.

yes, i am a whistler.

i caught it off my father, who is also a terrible whistling sort of a guy. i think the fact that i'm not much of a singer but a pretty accurate whistler encourage the habit.

well i enjoy it. actually, i went to see ralph mctell this year, and he whistled a song accompanied by himself on guitar. he's quite the whistler!

mostly classical type melodies.. and usually when its raining (like today)

oh yes the classical as well, but that is actually a genre that i listen to quite often.

I used to be able to whistle but now when I do it, it seems like I'm drunk or my lips are too damn fat or some shit.

me too! weird. Nothing worse than people who make that weird humming noise when they whistle though
