When pressing w with the main window in focus, it worked as expected

I observe this also. That appears to be the key. If any Inspector is in focus, or was the last focus chosen, then 'W' won't close the Inspector(s). This seems to be the reliable, reproducible fact.

If the full set of focus possibilities consists of either "some Inspector" or "main window" then "having the main window in focus" is another way to put it.

Possibly the key detection algo for RC's 'Global' key category reports the keypress only when the main window is in focus (?).

FWIW, I really think that if the 'W' can -can- be made to work in all circumstances then it -should be-. That makes for consistent behavior that the user can rely on, and matches RC's own declaration: "Global keyboard shortcuts are valid everywhere, regardless of which area is in focus."

However, in the worst case (if I may so call it), if Global simply can't be truly Global, then I suggest RC's declaration be reworded to "Global keyboard shortcuts are valid whenever the main window is in focus" (if that's what it boils down to).

Feature Request: It would be a nice-to-have if the Keyboard Shortcut page would remember it's last state of expanded/contracted for the various categories. It's a small thing, but having it always open with every category fully expanded, for me, almost always means extra strokes and time.

All the settings tabs actually need that.. I think I asked a couple years ago.. lol (hint hint Attila). For instance, the settings page really should start out collapsed, not all expanded. It would be easy to get to the area faster..

I'm getting a lot of crashes in the latest standalone beta. It normally happens after about 30 minutes of use. I can't pinpoint exactly when it will happen, but it's normally after dragging a midi to the daw, then coming back into RC and doing some more editing.

interesting i just regenerate staccato track's phrases via left right arrows and yes 3th phrase in the last track always get regenerated ..
actually to me seems Melody Generator in the Apply Melody Variation get triggered somehow

ok, yea, not sure which one's do it, but, it happens. I suppose to be absolutely sure, I would have to try all combinations.

So far, you are correct, apply melody is for sure one of them. What I mean is, how many others have that? It could be just that one variation too..

Hi,

I seem to be having an issue with .mid file generation in RC v 3.9b27.

Attached is a composition file, and a .mid file export of the first 16 bars, created by Ctrl-dragging the {chords} track.

This .mid file does not load when dragged into my DAW (Bitwig, in this case).

Prior to this version, I had been doing this same sequence of operations successfully.

IOW, it seems the .mid file generation may have changed. (?)

Melody editor questions:

I know you can save whole melodies via the heart button. But is there any way to save individual motives or rhythms, or plans to have presets in this area?

It seems that every time you start a new melody you have to sort of reinvent the wheel all over again starting from scratch. Then again it's more than possible I'm missing something here?

BTW, I do love the melody editor, I just find it a bit mystifying though

I can see what is wrong. Using Melody Generator as an input for Apply Melody may not be a good idea, but it should not regenerate the melody phrase every time...
I'll have a fix shortly.

Awesome.. While you are at it, can you fix the persistent file name saves for rhythms?

And a new bug.. set phrase length at 1 bar, drop a phrase down. Set regenerate type to repeat. Drag the phrase out several bars to the end.. like maybe 8 bars. With the phrase selected and that track, click time line dialog and split the phrase at chord boundaries. makes a mess ... hehehe
