Nicely done plexuss!plexuss wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 4:56 am The more I work with Parallels the more I like it. It's sonically deeper than at initial glance. It's defintiely carved itsself out some uniqueness.
Here's a ditty I put together with 5 instances with tweeked factory presets

i've been playing with the demo today, like this one. distinctive enough (have been looking for a new plugin)... i just downloaded the parallels installer (not the softube app), and authorized it in my ilok account; simple.
that promo code doesn't work... ah, well. anyway, pretty sure i will add it to my arsenal

Really like this synth, it reminds me of the softer - dreamy side of my all time favorite, the uWave XT. Something with a warmth, smoothness, depth and movement which I can't find from another plugin. It's all in the subtleness, but this is a kind of digital synth which blends well with analog. So glad to see it in Modular as well, which is one of the biggest addition to the platform. The reverb alone has breath a fresh air, not to mention the Euclidian Sequencer and flexible filtering.

I made a noisy ambient piece using only Parallels.
https://abdicant.bandcamp.com/track/parallels
I love Parallels.
I also hate Parallels. It is a serious PITA to work with. Very slow to load, inflexible envelopes, peculiar filters, really bad looping on the in-built samples (unless you find a sweet spot), stupid preset manager. It's a memory hog, and BitWig crashes if you load more than a handful of instances of it (the above song was tricky to finish, I had to bounce tracks to get it all in).
But I also love Parallels. Really interesting modulation possibilities, decent effects, really interesting in-built samples, interesting UI (I like it), plugs into Modular nicely, and leads me in directions I never would have gone with any other synth. To me, this falls in the category of "software that feels like hardware." (Something that I think Softube really excels at, FWIW.)
It definitely makes my "must have" list.
It would never make my top ten list. Probably not even top twenty.
But you can pry it from my cold, dead fingers!
I hope they make a V2 of it someday. ...or at least make another synth that is at least as far leftfield as Parallels. It's one of the most interesting synths made in the past five years.
