yeah, that's how it usually works: a review in exchange for an NFR license. you weren't aware of this?
schpaeckulum wrote: Mon Aug 10, 2020 4:22 pm Apparently this is not enough and you start to stink that they didn't extend it indefinitely - for free, just in exchange for a review. Here's what, buddy: hire a hitman to find Marion and take her out for not keeping her word to you, then hire a bunch of Chechen terrorists to go and plant a bomb in the company office of those pesky Frenchies. That would teach them a lesson!

Keep yer word, yo! :x

Hi Simon,

I’m sorry to hear that no one answered to your email. Everyone at Arturia has been busy lately and I didn’t take time to ask our PR manager to check your request since he usually answers every message he receives.
I think it would have been better for you to directly and privately get in touch with me, mostly because I could have missed this KVR post, as I can't spend as much time on forums as I would like to.
Fortunately, someone sent me the link to the thread, so I got aware of the situation.
It seems like you have my e-mail address, so I invite you to send me a message and I will make sure to update your licence.

Best regards.

Gaulthier.

There's a bit more to it in this case. This is ridiculous, actually.

But whatever. Arrogance is a way of life for some people.

@OP. Arturia replied. Good luck.

Before this gets locked down.

I think it's very unprofessional, petty and uncool to be blasting peoples real names, where they work, and identities on public forums. Especially while hiding your own.

@Arturia and @Forum.. how do you get a gig like that where the company gives you a free license for a review. I have been a Arturia user for 10+ years and never knew that. You just contact their PR department?

So I went ahead and read this "Simoon" posters review of V Collection 7. There are quite a lot of inaccuracies in the review. The Collection contains 23 "instruments" and not 25. (Pigments is not part of the collection and Analog Lab is not an instrument per se). There is also a complete lack of knowledge, understanding or comprehension of what Analog Lab is and how it fits into V-Collection. It's not a "more basic version of everything in the collection". Analog Lab is a separate software application that allows you to manage, access, control, filter, sort presets and more importantly, combine the various instruments within V-Collection to your liking to create customized sounds. It allows you to create sound palettes by mixing, for example a DX7 and a Buchla and saving that preset. If you have the collection and you decide to buy any of the sound pack presets[1], you would use Analog Lab to access and organize the patches that are contained in the sound pack.

The poster also compares V-Collection to Steinberg Halion and NI Kontact which I fail to understand why as those are two product offerings do not occupy the same market space as V-Collection. Perhaps IK Multimedia Syntronik or UVI Vintage Vault would have been a better comparison. There are also many others.

The poster also keeps re-enforcing that "I have barely scratched the surface" and "there is so much to review that it's almost a foreboding task" which indicates that he didn't really use it much. He just lists a few of products by name and doesn't go into any detail of how they differ or compare to other emulations of those vintage synths made by other companies. He just directs the reader to "go read the e-manual" and follow the built in tutorials in the application. There is no mention of the fact that you can access very detailed and comprehensive in depth tutorials on Arturia's YouTube channel[2]. (The CMI and DX7 ones by Glen Darcy are extremely good and highly recommended if you haven't checked them out already)

There is also some really screwed up use of the English language in that review. Really odd structured sentences such as below.

"This, of course, is testament to Arturia some great sound designers but also to the tools provided by Arturia."

"a pig to program".

And a whole bunch of foul language. Now sure what sort of weird college this poster dropped out from.

A pig to program is perfectly valid though. Can't explain why, it just is.

I accept is as their attempt to accurately emulate the full body experience of the vintage synths. You get the fun of using the sounds and you also get to experience the fun of trying to program a CS-80 just like Vangelis and his sound guys did back in 80s. :tu:

It really does read as though written by a first year PR college student.

@Arturia: why do you even bother? Anybody younger than 102 knows online reviews are all marketing and to not believe them. The proof of this is one of the best stories I've ever heard, the completely fictitious restaurant in London that was being raved about.

Ok so yes I agree it was a sweeping statement and obviously not all.

However, it can't just be me that treats positive online reviews with cynicism

it's not about whether you treat online reviews with cynicism, it's about people ganging up and making personal attacks. you may disagree with the actions he's taken or how he went about conducting himself with Arturia, but that doesn't mean you get to then pull the "and your review was shit anyway" card.
