Why don't you demo it and decide for yourself ?
It's a nice synth , but I really disliked the filter behavioiur and weak resonance

Probably because AD doesn't offer demos, just a money back guarantee type thing. Personally I'd prefer an actual demo instead of having to purchase a plug before trying.

huh???? since when?
here:
https://audiodamage.com/collections/plu ... 1-continua
i can clearly see a floppy/download icon called "DEMO"
clicking on it, lets you download a demo version of continua which works for 20 minutes
until reloaded
afaik AD offers demos for all of their software products...
(except for the freeware )

It changed a few years back ... when they "moved" to the new website.

Audio Damage have great quality plugins. But beware tho, their support is pretty bad, not the best around.

I don't own Continua, but I do have Quanta, Phosphor3 & Basic, all of which get used regularly. AD stuff is generally top notch.

is it "worth it" to purchase? What does that even mean? You can purchase every single vst on the market and their only value is if you actually do something with them. So yes, Continua is worth it if you decide to use it.

Looks interesting, but at that price, it's very close to Pigments now that it's on sale.

I bought Continua last year and I do like it but...
... there are synths that offer much better value than it does at its seemingly permanent $79 price tag. I don't think there is any area in which it excels, except maybe its interface. Although the workflow is very good, it is quite basic overall, so it is never going to be as versatile as a lot of other plugins in that same price category. I got it cheap because I already had Basic (which I also got very cheap). At $49 I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it but for $79 you can probably do better.
If I am honest, I mostly like it for it's super-cool interface and when I think to try it, that's always my motivation, not anything in the sound. You also don't get a lot of presets with it and those you do get aren't terribly useful. I have managed to get some very good sounds out of it but it takes a bit more effort than with a lot of other plugins.

I've tried it and I wouldn't consider it for its price tag, not at all. The preset selection arrows astonishingly have only been added recently, and I absolutely hate its mod matrix, too cumbersome. Therefore I don't think they pay enough attention to the UI, at least not for me.

I really like the mod system - simple, elegant, easy to use and with great visual feedback.
