Voice pitch shifting and pretend emotion in the form of groaning affectedly in all the wrong places.

Many vocals are often too much over-processed with pitch correction and shifting and loose their personality. Less perfection might give them more power!

Modern dubstep overuses the wobble inconsiderate. My ear easily fatigue when try to make sense the rhythm of the wobble.
I rather listen for more melodic rhythm use in the wobble rather than only the wobble itself.
I would recommend listen to Noisia - Machine Gun, it has good clear sound design, rhythm and most importantly listenable.

Nightcore
Why the high pitch vocal ?

I don't like the pedal-steel guitar on some older country songs. I don't know what they do to it to make it sound like cats, but it makes me queasy. This is the sound I don't like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fK1BfD8qZmk

Then again, I like the sound on Merle Haggard's "The Bottle Let Me Down" (it is a pedal-steel guitar, right?):

Robert Randolph is another story--damn good.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

It worked for Sly and the Family Stone though.

effects on human voices like the Cher effect, Vocoders or obviously pitched down (or up) voices all sound similarly silly / obnoxious to me.

instruments wise it's a lot of 90's trance and pop techno sounds, but it's probably more a combination of those sounds (which in the right hands can actually give some more ear pleasing results) and children's song themes mixed into a pesky something.
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

There's a rumbling sound in an X Ambassadors song that always makes my wife think something is wrong with the car.
