Does any phase adjustment plugin exist?

Well, there are EQs with different phases response, but is there a plugin which allows to customise phase shift across the spectrum? In order to fix phase within a single sound, or restore phase distortion introduced by excessive filtering in first place (not phase shift between two different tracks, that's completely another story).

I've read a lot about "allpass filters", but never actually saw one live. Do they exist?

Audiocation Phase AP1 does something, but it seems to be just a simple constant-phase shifter with one knob and no visual indicators of what's going on.

Off the top of my head
  • InPhase (Waves)
  • MFreeformPhase (Melda)
  • PhaseNudge (airwindows)
  • Disperser (kiloHearts)
  • ReaEQ (Reaper stock EQ)

Sound Radix has a pricey automated solution:

Worth checking this one out:

No visualization but is supposed to be good.

The phase problems I usually get aren't due to mic placement, and aren't easily solved by some static phase offset. (It's usually multiple oscillators, or tapping multiple points in a feedback loop, or a stereo effect of some kind. 4ms Ensemble Oscillator is especially prone to cancellation issues all by itself.) Mid-side EQ is usually how I find up fighting that battle, and it's a manual process of trial and error (though it's easier before recording than when mastering...)

It seems to me that an automated solution could be fairly simple? When it detects negative phase correlation, it could invert one side -- by crossfading to an inverted state when the wave is moving toward the zero, perhaps. It'd introduce some distortion, but it should be relatively minor and hopefully, not change states so frequently it becomes rectification :hihi: Maybe this has been tried but it turned out to be awful though.

the audiocation seems quite powerful for certain jobs, but check if the latency compensation works for you...

Kinda. In Ableton latency compensation works per channel. This is fine until you try some grid-based effects, such as Volume Shaper or Stutter Edit. They receive delayed input and suddenly give completely undesired results.

I tried MFreeformPhase and it greatly restored my bassline. The thing is, it also delayed the signal by almost 1/8 beat o.O. Now, with Volume shaper ducking every other 8th, it created exactly the opposite of original effect.

Phasenudge changed my life. Really mad that I only discovered it this year.

MAutoAlign will automatically align the phase.

No, that's not what I asked about. :uhuhuh:
