Vermona ran okay along with all my other Softube plugs up until the recent Windows 10 update.
I would try the OpenGL off trick if I could manage to get any of their plugs to run even briefly without crashing. It's clearly related to the Win10 update, however, I'm not having any issues whatsoever with any other software.

"No Server Response. www.softube.com does not respond. Please try again later."
Also, this: "Windows users: Softube Central automatic updates are temporarily inactive." :dog:
softube central is notorious instable, i installed it on one of my systems, the other i do manually.
it performs better than before.
so no iLok problems. mmh..
try to use the installers, or one..., or you are doing to much from the softube website.

i don't know if this will solve this, i notice that downloading via softube central, was strange.

which GPU do you use?

you can, but they crash immediately.., set openGL to off, for all products, within one product...

softube support is still quite responsive, by the way. although updates for bugs... (the vermona module of softube modular can crash a daw immediately, or erraticly.. they know still no fix i believe..).

strange, there are many users with problems with vermona, and others do not report problems...
but it is also strange that none of your softube plugins will load now.
windows 10 pro 2004 (with latest maintenance update), nvidia cards, intel processors.

when i load the vermona modula in ableton, immediate crash. perhaps it doesn't crash now...

good luck! difficult to pinpoint, if not a lot of users have the same problem.
i have softube modular, all the modules, tsar-1 bundle, the mix bundle, drawmer, tube delay, and.. i forget. so not that many of softube, but still. they all work. in different daw's.

vsthost is a free program, that can load, vst's... only the vst2 versions, perhaps it can work for you.
google vsthost. (i used it, not anymore, to work with softube modular stand-alone..).

Thx WL! I'm running latest Windows Pro 10.2004, X570 AORUS PRO WIFI, Ryzen 7 3700X, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, 32GB RAM. The "R&R scientists" at Softube must have left the building. :dog:

You are not using a PCIe GEN4 GPU, but I would set the X570 AORUS PRO PCIe all to GEN3, not AUTO or GEN4, just to avoid some strange bug somewhere...

Roger that Pictus! I'll give it a go. Thx!

Alchemedia, my situation sounds exactly like yours, except I haven't updated to Windows 2004. Tape started crashing mid project, for no apparent reason, and now opening any instances of tape from previous projects also results in crashing.

Upon testing further, it seems every single one one of my softube plugins crashes my project (except Console 1). I have tried installing, updating, re-scanning, the lot, and everything is still a mess.

I'll let you know if I make any headway!

Which DAW are you using? Did you recently update via Softube Central?

Cakewalk primarily, but I checked in Reaper and I'm still getting some crashing there.

Yep, I have, however I'm lost with updates and re-installs, I have tried manually and via SC so many times. Tape generally started crashing mid project, and now crashes all the time.

Just as well since the latest version doesn't resolve the problem (manual install or via central app). No reply from Softube.

I have found this on a Gearslutz thread, maybe worth a try (at risk of making things even worse)

''Even starting a brand NEW session ... the plugins are toast. All my other plugs will load and work. So it is only Softubes.

I've just CLEANED out everything again ... and now they are loading/working.

First I use the plugin UN-install. This seems very limited. I think it only Deletes the DLL plugin file.

The manual process ....

The 'clean' involves deleting ALL the Registry Entries.

note: ONLY doing the Registry does NOT fix the problem.

Then I go to the harddrive Directories.

There are 6 of them that I've sent to the Recycle BIN.

Once I have both those cleanings ... I can then INSTALL all the plugins ... and they Work again.''

I should clarify, this is even happening on new, blank projects.

Same here LG.

Unfortunately that didn't work for me. Did you reinstall via Softube Central (which has been in beta forever) or individual installers? Thx!

Perhaps Softube has succumbed to Covid-19. Softube Central is buggy and tech support is MIA. At the very least they could send out an email or post a message on their website to address these issues. It's not an isolated case. Meanwhile they're running a Vol 4 blow-out sale. :dog:
