Software trial/free/demo versions are so very useful, I'm happy they exist. I found some dissatisfactory issues with Dorico while using it in a small project.
1. It currently don't play drum kits. This will be implemented in some future version I'm sure.
2. You can't select a 3rd party VST instrument when setting up the initial score. The way it goes is to set some dummy Halion preset initially, the replace it with your desired VST.
3. You have to manually make expression maps for your 3rd party VSTs or play them plain. (or at least this is the impression I got. I didn't delve into this)
4. You can't use the FL Studio VST to record audio (due to ASIO driver issue)

So I have to use a DAW to record audio because of 4. Then the dorico vst support becomes an irrelevant feature because the DAW offers vst. And the DAW plays drum kits too, of cause.

Back to MuseScore it is. By the way, MuseScore 4 is expected to come with some very interesting features.
I don't record any instruments live, I construct my music.

I demoed Dorico. I needed nested polyrhythms, and I needed it in multiple parts. It's not that hard to set up really, but the interface leaves a LOT to be desired (kind of like Halion). It worked only in a single part. VERY broken/buggy feature. I spent hour upon hour banging my head against a wall. To be fair, Musescore was buggy as well for this.

why would you use FL Studio if you using Dorico?

It seems like no one is ever happy with Notation software.

The dorico is a very ambitious software and generally quite good. It would be even better if the developers would some day add audio recording capabillties to it (but will it ever happen?). The flstudiovst plugin would have served that purpose had it worked.

Would steinberg make simplified vst plugins, dorico vst for cubase and cubase vst for dorico?

Well, the next one to try will be presonus studio one 5 and it's new notation capabilities. The 30 days demo should be long enough time there too to make one small music.
