Some old .exs instruments not working in latest Logic

Hi all,
Back when I was using Logic 8, I created a bunch of .exs instruments for use in Logic. I've since changed computers and switched to the latest version of Logic (10.5), but before I did this, I put these homemade .exs instruments on an external hard drive. I then transferred them on to the new computer in the correct location. But some of them won't load. The file names for the malfunctioning instruments appear to be slightly faded out or grayed out (not really sure which, I don't have the best eyesight). The ones that do work look normal. Any thoughts about what might be going on? I did a google and various forum searches but couldn't other people discussing this issue.
Thank you for any suggestions you might have!

What OS?
I had Logic 8 and this was before the 64-bit bandwagon, 2009, 10.6? fuzzy
In the abstract, a 32-bit anything won't work in Catalina, or in my experience install.

Hmmm, I bought the computer in 2008. But our sampler instruments coded differently now? I really don't understand why some of them would work and others wouldn't. They aren't apps, they are just .exs files.... ????

I'd head over to the logicprohelp.com forum for slightly better support than kvr. If you include a screenshot of how the unloadable presets look that might help as well.
But, in essence, you are correct. EXS patches have been backward compatible for many years, and Sampler does not break that cycle.
This has nothing to do with 32-64 bit compatibility; EXS/Sampler has been built in to Logic for more than a decade and is fairly tightly integrated into the main application. It is not a plugin in the conventional sense.

Thank you for the tip.
Weirdly, I got a lot of them to work by saving the .exs files under slightly different file names. I have no idea though why that fixed some of them. I'll see later whether that works for all of them. Weird!
