"Need" is relative. Version 3.0 just released includes months of development so I certainly would if I were you. For instance it now has realtime oscillator graphs.
If you are asking if there will be a free 3.0 upgrade, no, it is almost a year of development so this upgrade will not have a free option.
Fathom Vector is now released.
This includes Fathom Pro 3.0.
Intel AVX upgrade instructions are included on the web site for existing users.
Trance Warehouse has also been released.

OK - so version 3 is an upgrade from 2.33 (obviously) but it's not Fathom Vector - correct?

Yes, that's correct. The upgrade is still Fathom Pro.
Fathom Vector with Intel AVX Parallel Processing is now a separate advanced product and includes the new Metamorphic Oscillator and 16 Channel Modulated Digital Delay.
That being said, Fathom Pro still includes all this years development minus just those specific Vector Features.

The web site includes instructions for existing users to get the free Pro AVX upgrade, as well as instructions for the Fathom Vector upgrade path.

Fathom Vector did not start on sale so the price will remain as it is now for the foreseable future.
Fathom Pro is always on sale here on KVR and that price will remain relatively constant also.

The new Trance Warehouse soundbank is great fun. Really! I suspect making it helped through those nights of new math, when ideas were taking shape and implemented more at their speed, than yours.
Mt. Rushmore also took a while to carve. Some things just can't be rushed.
Immediately notice that cpu use is way way down
I'll put in a new request for thirty-hour days, although last time it was ignored, and I just stocked up on coffee...
Cheers

Thanks, Yes, I'm really happy with how Trance Warehouse turned out.
It also helped to have some real professional presets contributed by Solidtrax.
That never hurts.

Thanks for the reply!FathomSynth wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2020 8:42 pm If you are asking if there will be a free 3.0 upgrade, no, it is almost a year of development so this upgrade will not have a free option.
I was just wondering if that option was the one to buy for me instead of the Fathom Pro priced at $25. I was confused
I'll be upgrading for sure!

I have never seen such an unclear and cumbersome way to upgrade before.
Mentioning that Vector has AVX while the Pro update has it too does not make it clearer. Just mention the differences.
A gigantic explanation on the site (with a lot of don'ts instead of do's) doesn't help either. The many questions here at KVR do indicate that you clearly need to improve your marketing.

Agreed, an absolutely dreadful website that does a disservice to the product. It didn't even recognise my details when I tried logging in, so I ended up paying the 'full' $125 for Fathom Vector. I don't begrudge paying the full price, but I just wish the website was free of confusing obfuscation.

Sssh! Don't tell him! If he ever improves his marketing, he'll figure out that he can charge much higher prices for these excellent products!

Change your menu on your website as well:
Buy leads to https://www.fathomsynth.com/buy which only has the Pro version under it and nothing else. You might want to have it lead to https://www.fathomsynth.com/products so new buyers are at least aware of the versions. You should add a table with version comparisons and show this at every versions page (Mono, Pro and Vector).
Then the upgrade process. It is indeed a bit confusing. I understand that Vector is the version I want and I need to use the same email as I used to purchase in the first place. That much is clear to me.
2. Wait for response from support@fathomsynth.com.
4. Receive refund
