Old user:

2) goes to USER AREA, where you get information of a new available upgrade with a quick overview of what it is and what it does.. and why it would be worth upgrading
I didnt know there was a user area, where do you find that?
I don`t think bmanic was saying there was a user area, he was saying there should be a user area.
Sorry, I was supposed to be doing something else and was having a quick brows, rushing through the thread before my wife caught me.

I realize that since I often use this thread to get suggestions from people for features that users understandably get into the habit of thinking that I’m asking for opinions here when I post.

Actually in this case I was not asking for permission or advice on how to issue the refund because in fact there is only one way I can issue the refund. So that is the way we are going to do it regardless of whether or not anyone approves or disapproves.

Also, I’m not going down the rabbit hole of redesigning the web site at this point when I could be spending my time doing Video Card processing or other life changing features.

The web site always changes a little when I make a new release so there is no point freaking out over it it during the first iteration. It will change in the next few days as I add more information on Fathom Vector.

Currently on the web site you can go to the upgrades page either from support or downloads, that is not going to change.

Once you are there, there are three things at the top.

1. What Changed?
That needs to be there at the top.

2. Buy the Upgrade.
That needs to be second.

3. Intel AVX Upgrade Instructions.
That needs to be third.

None of that is going to change.

I will be adding a full description of what Vector is as soon as humanly possible.

I am willing to change the AVX upgrade instructions if any one can tell me what about them specifically is causing so much confusion, other than general statements such as they are “weird” or “confusing”. I’m happy to make changes to make it more clear and that would only takes a few seconds.

I don’t have a division of web site developers and data base engineers on hand to be able to automate this whole process.

So we are going to have to do the refunds manually or not at all.

If anyone is truly confused to a profound degree then just email me and I will lead you through the process step by step. Come to think of it, maybe it would be better just to say that on the web site instead of trying to explain the process in detail, since I will be doing that anyway for each user.

I'm pretty sure the "Intel AVX Upgrade Instructions" section wasn't there when I upgraded - and the Vector section definitely wasn't - so that's why I was confused ;)
I must have hit your site too early. (Which was a fluke, I was in no particular hurry)
I just had another look, and it's a lot clearer what to do ;)

It's of course up to you.. but don't expect to hit any kind of mainstream success then. Doesn't matter how good the product is if you don't know how to present it to the general public.

There are so many inexpensive website designers on this planet, even in other cheaper countries, it should be possible for you to find someone who doesn't break your bank! :)

i was wondering, too -- I searched for a website about all the new Fathom Vector features and all I found were the Fathom (Pro) website and some seaweed...

I used the get license from server option and it seemed to work but my license isnt showing up so Fathom wont run in AVX mode, what did I do wrong? will that happen if not installing using Administrator

seriously 5$ for an upgrade it's not what i should pay for this kind of modular synth :x
It should be between 20$ (hive2) and 80$ (dune3)
i have to admin Dune3 upgrade was a bit too much, but you get the idea
i can't even pay what i want like 2getheraudio (former Rhino dev)

Bibz1, Send me an email please. The license is working for hundreds of people so I need to see what you are doing differently. You need the AVX or Vector release. If you just run the license on Pro it will not give you AVX.

Bmanic, Actually the current web site was already completely redesigned from the first one from the ground up. My experience has been no matter what web site you have there will always be someone telling you that you will fail unless you change your web site.

The current web site is a hundred million times better than most synth web sites. Also, if you can't navigate that web site there is not a snowball's chance in hell you will be ever able to navigate Fathom itself.

Fathom is for serious sound designers who want all the effort put into the GUI of the actual product.

Just curious, are you actually using Fathom?

OK, Thanks, I'll be sure not to expect any mainstream success.

For anyone who found the existing instructions terrifying or disturbing I rewrote the instructions page.
https://www.fathomsynth.com/avx

It now includes only a simple list of things you need to do.

I made it so my pet rabbit could understand it.

You see, this is the bit where you don't understand marketing. The rewrite is a good start, but nowadays you're supposed to put a photo of your pet rabbit on the web site. And embed a YouTube video of your pet rabbit playing with a kitten.

(Just in case it's not clear: this is a joke/a criticism of sites other than yours. Please do not actually do these things.)

Actually I was laughing long before I read your disclaimer.
Believe me I seriously thought about it.
