Rivanni, Sorry, maybe I didn't understand the question, I was just trying to explain the cheapest possible way to try it.

The metamorphic oscillator was never designed to "try" for free. It is not part of Fathom Mono. If it was meant to be a freebie I would have added it to Fathom Mono.

It is one of the most advanced oscillators ever designed so it is more geared toward serious sound designers who are already familiar with Fathom and are willing to commit to it. It's not really geared toward the free stuff crowd.

That being said, if you are looking for free stuff. I put all the features back in Mono. So Fathom Mono now has all the Fathom Pro features except polyphony. The only thing Mono does not have now is the Metamorphic, the 16 Channel Delay and the Fractal Reverb. Everything else is back in there.

This basically makes Fathom Mono the most powerful mono synth ever made, though I'm sure there are a lot I'm not aware of.

So that is an excellent option. Since 90 percent of bass and synth tracks are mono, you could easily create a whole Fathom Pro song with Mono and not pay a penny.

Tricky-Loops,

Fathom Pro AVX is not included in Fathom Mono.

Fathom Mono has nothing to do with AVX.

Fathom Pro AVX is a free upgrade only for existing users before 8/21/20.

Fathom Mono does not have any Intel AVX parallel processing. Fathom Mono is just the free version of Fathom Pro that is monophonic.

Ok, Forget about buying the preset pack.

I was just trying to help.

I was not trying to confuse anyone.

Forget I said anything about preset packs.

You can not “try” the metamorphic oscillator.

You have to buy it or not buy it.

No, there will be no Fathom Vector demo version.

Intel AVX Parallel Processing took over a year to develop and it will never be free. It is only for advanced Fathom users who understand what it is and want to buy it.

The only reason it is free for existing users before 8/21/20 is because we all have been talking about it for over three years, we all know what it is, and we all want it. So I developed it for all those thousands of advanced users who have been asking for it for three years so they can buy it.

If you are confused by Intel AVX Parallel Processing and don’t understand what it is then please forget about it.

Don’t confuse your self with it.

If you are new to Fathom and don’t know anything about it just download Fathom Mono and start off easy.

Just keep in mind that the usage of AVX instructions will mean Fathom can do more with the available CPU power, the efficiency has gone up. Nothing more.

A video showcasing the new Oscillator possibilities is really needed, so new users don’t have to buy something to see if they like it. Can understand a demo at this point is too much to ask, because of the dev time spent.

But it is the AVX Parallel Processing I wanted to test. Whether it works well with my (Intel) CPU. If I buy Vector and it doesn't get along with my CPU, I have a problem...

I'm not swimming in money so I could buy every 125 $ synth just to test it. There are such wealthy people here at KVR who can but many cannot.

Post

The link I posted tells you if your processor supports it, if it does it will work fine.
Which processor do you have?

Then you should wait for a video showing the new stuff, in my opinion, and decide after that.

Do you have a bespoke, one of a kind, handcrafted processor? Do you make music on a computer that can barely run HY-MONO? If not, you have nothing to worry about.

If you like the free or cheap versions enough to upgrade, and you're using a system that meets the requirements, it's in the dev's own interest to respond to a bug report if you submit one.

Hi Everett,
I am glad that Fathom Pro and Vector are off to a good start.

I have a question. It would appear that Fathom Pro is included with Vector. When I look at the configuration settings for Pro, it appears that the settings for the AVX features (Intel Parallel CPU) are there, but cannot be enabled. I realize that AVX-Pro is only for previous owners of Pro, but I would have thought that the non AVX Pro version would not even have those setting in the configuration. Is that an oversight?

Also, if I have Vector, is there much sense in getting AVX-Pro as well?

Doug.

Yes, I agree with that. We definitely need a video.

I'm actually planning on doing that, I just wanted to get the release out first.

I'll make a video on both the Metamorphic Oscillator and the Intel AVX.

Good questions, If you have Vector you don't need Pro AVX, there would be no point.

I see your point about the settings page, but I just have one version of the settings pages for everything and I did not want to go down the rabbit hole of having multiple versions of the settings page. So for all products in the processor settings far upper right corner the three radio buttons tell you what you have.

First button is if your CPU supports AVX (Fathom can detect this in your hardware).
Second button shows if you have a license for it.
Third button enables and disables it.

Makes sense. Thanks for your answers!

The user manual at https://www.fathomsynth.com/support appears to be the old manual from 2019. Does the latest release include some documentation with more detail of the metamorphic oscillator and other new features? If yes, can I suggest making the updated manual available as a free download (no purchase required)?

I'm confused again:

I sent an email to support about Fathom Vector refund. I got an email back which acknowledges I am on the Server with a link to get FathomProAVX. I've now installed and licensed FathomProAVX.
How do I get Fathom Vector?
There were no instructions in my email about getting a possible refund or what to do next if I want to upgrade to Vector.

Do I have to wait for another email?
Can anybody enlighten me as to what I'm supposed to do next...

Post

I think the email should have explained it. Sorry, maybe I missed an email from you.

Basically, as long as you send me your PayPal email, as soon as you buy Vector (or shortly after) you will be sent your refund.

PayPal's have already started going out. I was running a bit behind on them today, but tomorrow I will be caught up issuing all the refunds for anyone who purchased Vector. That is provided you sent me your PayPal.

Honestly, sorry if I missed your email.

Yes, the user manual will be updated with a massive section on the new oscillator explaining every dial. Same goes for the 16 Channel Delay.

Also, for those of you who had questions about what exactly AVX is and why the new pricing, I put a dedicated page on the web site explaining all that.

If you read it DO NOT COME BACK HERE AND SAY YOU ARE CONFUSED. It is NOT instructions of any kind. You will not be tested on it. It is just background information for those who want it. If you read it and you start feeling confused, STOP reading it and do something else.

If you need to find out whether your CPU offers AVX support, please use CPU-Z https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
It's a little utility offering information about your system. Find attached example of my system -> Box labled "Instructions" contains "AVX" and "AVX2" in my case. I doubt that Intel has been producing CPUs without AVX since years ... Anyway, use CPU-Z to find out for your system.

Congrats Everett. I know it has been a massive amount of work.

Here is a video a did a few months back just kinda showing the Metamorphic oscillator in action. I will do a more thorough one as well.

We jumped the fence because it was a fence not be cause the grass was greener.
