Really confused how to use my MIDI controller

I am a new user trying to figure out how to make songs with a new MIDI device I bought. However, I have not been able to hear audio from my keys, and for some reason Tracktion is not able to recognize the MIDI input either. Please help!

You have given no information, and this is the wrong forum.
Post in the Computer Setup and System Configuration forum for hardware setup, or in Hosts and Applications for help with Tracktion.
Give details. Like, you know, what MIDI controller you have, what you are hooking up to what, what software instrument you are using. Etc.

Sure. I am using an AKM320 USB mini controller, by MidiPlus, and I am using Tracktion 7 Free. I am using a Windows 10 laptop.

How the controller is connected could be important too (usb or midi cable?). Also ... have you selected your controller as a midi device in Traktion (midi preferences probably)?
