I often hit the random button more than reaching the presets, looking for something interesting for that moment. Really not into EDM but sound demo's are geared that direction. So which should I check out first?
I personally like Icarus, does ambient very well but can be aggressive as well.

I love the technicality of Icarus, but I have been playing with the simplicity of Firebird and liking it, I'm glad it's getting a rebirth no pun intended.

+1 for Thunderbird

Well, if this synth has to be cheap, simple, light, bright, fast and warm, just call it LIGHT2.

Because it's the same with any other plugin out there?

I guess the only difference is that the dev states it here. The amount of updates which say that this or that has been improved in terms of sound quality tells me that there is continuous development though. It's just not that anyone always starts at zero, and reinvents the wheel the whole time. That's not how programming works.

I have a couple of (possibly obvious) questions about a Firebird successor:

-If I already have the latest version of Gladiator, would a Firebird successor have a significantly different feature set, or just be a subset of the features already in Gladiator?

-If there are new presets that are created for the Firebird successor, would they be compatible with (and available for download or purchase for) Gladiator?

Post

This synth will be able to replace FireBird. I already ported all FireBird patches to it.
This synth is not a subset of Gladiator. Both products are not compatible. They have a different feature-set, overall concept and sound. That's why it will not be possible to load FireBird patches to Gladiator or vice-versa.
