I had never heard of Jon Hopkins before but I enjoyed that.

In the mix: Essentially as leeleema suggests: Use of distortion. Running a sub mix into a buss which adds distortion is an easy way to increase RMS (if you like that kind of thing), add energy and the strongest glue you can find.
