How much would you pay to not use a dongle?

I've been dying to update my Padshop Pro licence to the second version and I've just taken ownership of a new computer so the time has come.
I have a Cubase 9 licence that resides on a Synchrosoft dongle along with the Padshop Pro licence. To update that Padshop Pro licence to version 2 costs £25. To buy a whole new copy of Padshop 2 costs £110. Effectively I can pay £85 more in order to use Padshop without a licence. Alternatively I can pay an extra £60 on top of the £110 and get the latest Cubase which includes Padshop 2.
What would be your take on it?
Personally I think I'm gonna pay the extra £85 and forgo having to use a dongle. Especially since I'm not gonna install Cubase on this new computer and will sell that in the future.

You aren't going to be using Padshop without a license, full stop. You want to pay that much so the license resides on your hard drive rather than a key you actually have?
You're not too swift, are you.

So you're that swift that you always carry a usb hub around with you to plug in the dongle that you don't mind carrying around as well?jancivil wrote: Thu Aug 27, 2020 2:41 pm You aren't going to be using Padshop without a license, full stop. Or maybe you weren't swift enough to consider that people like to be mobile and use laptops as well as desktops.
Mate, a dongle is just one extra thing isn't it. Two if you consider the hub that you'll now have to use because your laptop has two USB ports. Which are both in use with 1x audio interface and 1x MIDI keyboard.

LoL I think I get this but I'm pretty new here. And at the same time ancient. I've never posted enough to retain my account so I get properly confused each time I try to log back into KVR to try and post wanted ads for pre-owned licenses.
Actually, is this whole thread a #donglewang ?

The question is: Why does it matter to you?
Rather smells like the typical "Hey guys, agree with me already." (also often referred to as "insecurity", I think). It's your money, it's your computer, it's your dongle or soft eLicenser. Only YOU can decide what is important to YOU.

But earnestly, it is a slightly confusement situation because essentially I have a cheap way to get the plugin I want or I have the perfect excuse to upgrade to the latest version of Cubase even though each subsequent upgrade of that program I've grown less and less inclined to use it. But both involve the dongle which I'm already not keen on. Although having said that I was quite proud when I first bought Cubase 4.5 moving up from flaky previous copies of Cubase SX
So the rest of the post was just idle curiosity, to see how other peoples experiences have shaped their take on it. But we got a nice game of hostwang out of it and swiftly dismissed others. All in all a nice first round of posting on KVR cheers guys
