Steinberg Activation Codes question - passing on / donating / gift

Can I let a friend use my unused activation code for a Steinberg product that I bought and never activated? They have an e-licenser of their own.

Thanks to anyone with this kind of experience, I shudder to think about contacting Steinberg customer support about anything, let alone this kind of grey zone question...

No grey zone at all. Of course you can. The codes or software are not tied to the hardware.

It's your activation code... I would expect if you contact Steiny they'll have a way to make money off of you with this.
