Mutable Instruments Rings is on sale. Maybe already discussed, but any feedback from users? I own the Applied Acoustics String Studio, this seems to offer different tones. Any comparisons or input regarding this module? Thanks heaps :)

Nothing yet.

The main value that I see in Rings vs AAS physical modeling synths is that you can excite it with any input signal, which will give you more varied timbres. It's certainly good and worth a demo. Using the structure parameter to modulate inharmonicity (in the appropriate modes), you can get complex atonal textures that would take quite a bit of work with String Studio.

Just feed Rings some closed hihats, experiment and enjoy. If you demo it you will buy it !

shitballs
yep, bought :P

On August 28th Softube replied to a tweet someone made about wanting new modules. They said there are some cool new expansions coming in the next few months.

HW: Minilogue XD, TR-8S, 0-Coast, Bassline, Digitone, Digitakt, Jazzmaster
Pedals: Zen Delay, Black Hole Symmetry, Ottobit, Shigeharu, Tremotron, Dweller, Oblivion, Julianna, Rooms, Microcosm

Modular needs the zoom fader that Amp Room has. Especially for the Buchla modules that are shrunk down to eurorack size.

There is no clocked LFO that can be synchronised with the host? The Doepfer LFO cannot be synchronised (according to my tests, which may be wrong).

it is a pingable and has divisions (and multiplications). so it can be used that way, did i ever do that?

Aah! Can the envelope generator also generate a simple sine wave?

I'm still testing but I have a short idea :phones:
This is not only the Softube (for the sequence) because I want to hear how it sounds in a track...

Just got the last remaining modules during the last day of Modular Month’s sale. Which includes the MI's Trinity, Parallels, Monoment and Statement. It’s now offering the widest range of high quality sounds and way more useable than ever, especially to build a kind of Moog Modular with the Model 72, while being able to use it with other modules. The highlight is the MI’s Trinity, which high range is untouchable in the plugin world. Plaits might have a more hands-on approach, it’s going to be awesome when they release it one day. But for now, Braids sounds a bit more raw which is preferable for my taste, love it for the way it is. One simple module, acts like several digital synths. While waiting for the Elements, Rings is a nice teaser with a quality that I always dreamed of from the AAS Instruments. It compliments Chromaphone and Strings Studio really well. Clouds has a kind of quality that I’m expecting from the best high resolution convolution reverb, with granular awesomeness. Perfect for adding a high-end gloss to a modern sounding track. It’s also nice to have more modules from the synth line, need to experiment more with those, especially Parallels with the Euclidian sequencer. But I love the new reverb which is kind of a next gen sounding TSAR-1. It’s not surprising if there’s going to be something like a TSAR-2. Overall, this is a great move for the Modular. My optimism is back for an even greater development.

i was think what is MI's trinity, you mean the three MI modules. yes they are great. clouds is more than a granular reverb.... check out vst in depth of rolf kasten...

did myself only buy parallels (here on KVR, almost for the lowest sale price, which was €50, here i paid €60..) and model 72, the other stuff i already had.
don't have monoment and statement, perhaps, i don't know, one day. perhaps when there is a flash sale, and bought for months no modules or plugins, or not so much i do, every month...

with rings, braids and clouds, in combi with other modules, buchla, rubycon, 4ms, etc.
you have already a extensive range of possible sounds.

of course, my remark about clouds, it is mainly used as a kind of reverb, i did it in one patch (which has several variants), but modulating the hell out of clouds gives you, o well, i like it.
and modules that modulate eachother and back... softube is still a great soft modular, working with it gives me great pleasure ánd results.

(owning also other soft modulars, whith a lot of modules or blocks (packs))

rings, makes a of phyisical modelling plugins, not-interesting... especially if you use softube modular as an effect.

by the phsyicall modelling can also be achieved with a total different approach... but i don't think it could in softube modular, i must try it (not my idea, a series of VCF modules, that well, work like a resonator, also an eq can work as a resonator...).
