I have a old Rosewood Gibson SG which I love but I am thinking about buying a Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro V. Does anyone have experience of this company?

thank you
A friend of mine has a Berlin Pro and loves it to bits. His is a few years old but the build quality is fantastic and the tonal variation gives a good range of useful sounds (I've been neglecting my guitars recently in favour of VST's - now when I flick the pickup selector I think of it as "changing presets" :D ).

I don't know if the newer models are as good as the old ones (i'm not saying that they're not, just that I don't know) but I try one out for certain.

Regards,

Derek.

I have an '64 ES335 that I bought in '76 for $300. It's a great guitar, somewhat versatile, stays in tune, great action and I would take it over an SG which has a somewhat narrower sound. The new ones don't look much different than this one except that some were built completely hollow with a couple of braces going down the middle while others were built with a solid block and are only hollow on the sides. I think the new ones are all built with the solid block.

If I were considering another guitar, specially for rhythm, I would look at Godin. They have this great sounding guitar that combines humbuckers with acoustic pickups allowing you to choose either sound or mix the two. I don't think they are that expensive either.

Derek. Thank you for the answer. I have nearly decided to get it anyway even though i'm also preferring VSTs now too. Maybe it will encourage me to play more
guitar.
