You have £400, what guitar do you buy?

I bought a Telecaster clone from Bitwood Guitars (www.bitwoodguitars.com)
The guitar is awesome! It has that certain Tele tone, and was setup perfectly.
The playability is great, the hardware is quality, and the guitar stays in tune as
well as any guitar that I have owned.
I found out about Bitwood on the Presonus forums, where
the owner posts some of his music (He's also on Soundcloud).
Others in the Presonus forums who are actual professionals
have gotten guitars from Bitwood, and also give top marks.
My Tele was only around $200.00. Simply amazing...this axe is the real deal.
Several Fender and Gibson guitars and basses are available. Just check them
out at the website. You can even call the owner, Bill Cain directly.
He is a very fine, kind person!
* He is semi-retired, and does his work for the enjoyment of it, and actually isn't
in it for the money. Thus, he has a gift for you, if you're interested....
** Instead of referring to my Tele as a "bargain", I consider it a gift.

I don't know. I've been playing jazz for ages now. I don't play out live and have a small apt with thin walls. Generally I just use my Yamaha THR10 and set it for either Deluxe or US Blues for my boxes. Having had both a Fender Deluxe and a Fender Blues Deville the THR does just fine. I've given up on guitar modeling permanently. Have a Variax that collects dust the sounds are not close enough, I know many who bury the guitar tone with effects and in the mix but I'd rather play the real thing.melomood wrote: Sun Aug 23, 2020 1:15 amThanks
Bit of an off the topic & not sure if you'd know this too but if so
What do you think of bias fx with the guitar match feature
Nonsense or not?

£400, you say? I'd probably get another Harley Benton "Les Paul". SC450, SC550 maybe. I'd put a set of solid, low-mid output
Donlins pickups in it, tune it to B standard, and keep as a second axe for whenever I need that low tuning. That would still leave me with 50-100 quid - I'd get a set of tuners. The original ones are rather meh.
Come to think of it, I may pull the trigger on this one...

Probably would buy a Ibanez JEM Junior Steve Vai. I am not saying it's the best you can buyt with 400, but been Wanting to put my hands on one of these for some time.

Almost impossible to answer hat question without knowing what you want the guitar for (jazz, rock, blues, something that can play any style in a covers band etc) but I just bought my daughter an electric with a £400(ish) budget and went for the Yamaha Revstar RS420 -got one in red on sale. A good all round guitar, has its own style and is light (but with good sustain) and easy to play. Yamaha Pacifica also a good guitar if you want the start thing.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Plenty of options in that price range, depending on the purpose... I would go for a squier strat and pimp it later with decent electronics.

Aye. They're a bit 'boring' looking in terms of what you can get these days, but they're really nicely done and very easy to play always. I wish I'd had one when I'd started rather than the horrific strat copy with telephone cables as strings.SLiC wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 9:07 am Yamaha Pacifica also a good guitar if you want the start thing.
Another brand to look at is Revelation. I've got two of theirs. Really well done more 'niche' stuff and weighing in under £400. Sometimes difficult to track down stock, but worth looking at;

get a mexican fender strat or tele if you are into that sort of sound. i find they are well made and worth it. just make sure you try it in the store. never buy blindly online.

I broke this rule with a Washburn Taurus T24, that I found for just £250. No regrets. Sounds great for something that cost so little (for a professional instrument). Stays in tune after plenty of punishment - even with the whole thing dropped to Bb.
Though I am more hesitant with the Schecter Demon 6 - whilst having no desire to visit shops that are not absolutely necessary during the pandemic.
On paper, both guitars make sense so I am considering buying blind again.
