New: Make VSTi as Standalone app.
SAVIHost by Hermann Seib
UPDATED to Version 1.06 - 2004-10-12
This program is used to have a VSTi run like a standalone application.
This offers two major advantages:
1. VSTi can be used (tested, checked or tried) easily and directly without the need or search for another host.
2. VSTi can be distributed to be tested in a temporary directory without the need of the presence of another host or to search for a dedicated VSTPlugIns-subdirectory. The VSTi-dll can still be used within other hosts like Cubase, Sonar etc. when copied to that host's VSTPlugins-subdirectory.
For use just rename SAVIHost.exe to the corresponding VSTi.dll eg:
if there is KPV-Syn.dll rename SAVIHost.exe to KPV-Syn.exe and this will run the VSTi.
There is also an English manual by H.G. Fortune available!

Just tried this with TheGrand.
I renamed to TheGrand.exe and tried to load it up. Well, the Grand loaded, but as soon as I set the midi parameter to my midi device (Delta AP in) everything freezes and I cannot even end the program with the task manager. It's still sitting there frozen.
Just thought I'd let you know...

We've checked it on a lot of different VSTi even different versions of Halion etc. we've experienced no problems unless
this: sometimes the prog needs a certain time to get configured when run for the first time depending on how "big" or "complex" the VSTi is. When run again it will start as quick as one expects it.

maybe ... but there is quite a difference each developer of a VSTi can tell you if he is going to distribute his creationsfarlukar wrote:I thought tobybear's minihost could do that as well...

Hi, could you please re-try with the version I just uploaded about an hour ago? I've fixed quite a lot in the MIDI code, so maybe this cures your problem... please let me know.Rouqmirg wrote:Just tried this with TheGrand.

Hi everybody!
I've got a little problem using SAVIhost: I've set up a pc notebook with a SB mp3+ (USB)controlled by the propagamma ASIO driver, and due to driver limitations, I must set up the card clock to 48 khz.
I played some notes with my bismark bs-16 hosted by SAVIhost and noticed that it was out of pitch! I think this happens because the plugin, or the host, work at 44.1 khz while my card works at 48 khz.
Is there a way to make the plugin/host work at the right frequency? Thanks!
P.S. Sorry for my poor english

Don't know... I only use my pc for the bs-16, with no arps or delays... But I tried something like that on VSThost and, if I remember well, arps delays and envelopes were faster too...
Anyway, what's MIDI clock? I'm just a poor keyboard player and don't know too much about pc audio stuff

Ok, problem solved... Just changed the host (toby's mini host) and the driver (asio4all).
Better performances and freedom to choose the frequency I like best!
Thanks for support

You can use asio4all driver with SAVIHost as well ...SingInTime wrote:Ok, problem solved... Just changed the host (toby's mini host) and the driver (asio4all).
