This has been bugging me for years, if anyone can tell me who made this track and what happened to them (maybe even where I might be able to find a copy) I'd be eternally grateful.
I think it was a demo from an up-and-coming band as it appeared on a cover CD with Future Music magazine around 1993. I think it was called "Leave The World Behind" or similar.
The style was sort of trance / dance / hip hop typical of the era. It started with a female vocal "Aaaow aaow..." over a morphing pad then into a violin solo and four-beats-to-the-bar kick drums. The main drums were of the "Jesus On E's" variety.
If nobody knows I will post a MIDI of the violin solo, which I am currently putting together.
I remember most of the lyrics, square brackets used where I'm unsure. A Google search has returned nothing, which would indicate that the song never made it.
Verse:
If I could lift my eyes
Above the rooftops
If I could turn my face
Heaven [blank]
If I could climb off the Earth
Towards the shining sun
If I could swim in the sky
Chorus:
I [wouldn't care less]
[See what I want to see]
I [wouldn't care less]
[Dream what I want to dream]
I [wouldn't care less]
[Be what I want to be]
I [wouldn't care less]
Leave the world behind me
