I saw this yesterday for the first time. I always liked them, but always thought they seemed weak live.
Not any more.
Not any more.

Have I inadvertently stumbled into another one of those internal aesthetic blood feuds that permeate the world of metal?
Seriously, I know little of such things, but I find them fascinating.
I knew I should have just had a thread title like: "I think that this is a good band with a very good drummer, that seem to be playing this song rather well". But then I would have to deal with the disgruntled fans of Dave Matthews and Blink 182, and I don't think I could take that.

Finland would like a word with you.

I know you're not going to believe this, but the thread title was actually the product of thoughtless spontaneous enthusiasm.
I mean, I know I have a long history of dead-pan shit-stirring, so it's my fault if you don't believe me, but I've been so out of it for the past 6 months, limited internet, lot's of chamber music and old soundtracks by Jerry Goldsmith and Ennio Morricone, I forgot about musical genre wars entirely.
Admittedly, now that I've been reminded of them, I do see the potential provocation.
I wonder if I have any popcorn.....

Everything gets fact-checked nowadays. Even enthusiastic love for a band or recording.
As long as it's not some GOAT competition, IMHO it's all good.
I don't really belong in discussions regarding Heavy Metal music but am glad to see you starting up a thread on any topic.

Haha relax. Was just kidding. Finland is always praised for it's metal so I thought I'd just poke some fun.herodotus wrote: Mon Aug 31, 2020 9:06 pmI know you're not going to believe this, but the thread title was actually the product of thoughtless spontaneous enthusiasm.

My personal favorite metal bands are French and Swedish! (I know.. blasphemy coming from a Finn)

I don't know that I am all that much of a fan of metal in any general sense. But it is definitely a culture that fosters great drumming. I hope I don't insult anyone when I say that I would never have listened to Slayer if Dave Lombardo hadn't been their drummer. It'd be like listening to Primus without Les Claypoolbmanic wrote: Mon Aug 31, 2020 11:38 pmHaha relax. Was just kidding. As for GOAT competitions, I am afraid that I know not of which you speak, and I am also afraid of finding out.
And yet, I find myself incapable of not asking you: what's a GOAT competition?
