Losing backward sound compatibility is never a good decision imo.
Sometime lo fi resonances and sounds are what you want, what you need and what you used...

Well GR6 doesn't overwrite GR5, so you can still use GR5 to open old projects if need be.
Good joke :-D you know that on higher resolution screens they are barely usable due to small size.

Get a regular resolution screen for legacy concerns. :)

(This ain't a joke, a number of people do exactly this, and studios usually also have old machines dedicated for old projects too.)

Funny how KVR is. This is a great thing, I'm on Komplete Ultimate 10, and my upgrade price is $399, with all of 11, 12, and 13's improvements included. If I can hold out until next year or so, I get it for $199. NI Have a fantastic upgrade policy, if you're capable of holding out.

I'm not happy that NI chose to ignore or not fix their GUI issues, and it will take them longer than the rest to update them, but it's happening, and I get the mess they made for themselves sticking to their older code base for as long as they did.

I'm not fond of the fact that NI choose to upgrade their software with whole new versions to avoid issues etc. but they aren't alone in this, roughly half of my plug ins operate like that. I wish they wouldn't do it with Kontakt though, I never manage to keep v2 through 6 on my machines, and this coupled with Apples switches in CPU means a lot of work assuring older songs open.

All told if you can't avoid shiny new objects, 4k monitors or getting every update then you could be upset at NI, I'm not. If the cash pops up, I might just purchase before their sales, KU10 to KU13 is a massive amount of great new things!

I have two 1080p monitors, until everything is 4k comparable I see no point in getting 4k with it's inflated price and tiny GUIs everywhere. My eyesight isn't that great. Hell I'd rather have a 42"+ HDMI TV monitor really.

Id rather not get low resolution monitor and save my space :)

Crush Pack is a pleasant addition to regular Komplete (already got the crossgrade, though). Love the new UI of Guitar Rig, but unfortunately I don't need it as I'm very happy with my S-Gear.

To summarize, not sure if the upgrade from 12 to 13 is worth it for me.

(Also, my little and somewhat naïve hope that Razor will someday make it to the regular Komplete is being slowly destroyed :()

Would be cool (I'm also interested in Razor), but, I think Super-8 makes for a nice addition really. It's not Razor, of course, but, it's a nice synth on its own.

There's another good reason for not going the 4K route: Less CPU and GPU strain. :)

I actually see your point. I myself personaly got higher res monitor due to futureproof and because that was the only option in my local shops that met my requiriments: i needed 32 inch display monitor that would fit in to 300 eu budget (or a little over), with IPS panel, smaller bezels and a stand with ability to tilt, swift, pivot. So it was either that or something that was without ergonomic stand or VA panel at the time or something way more expensive.

Anyways, NI definatly coulve leave an option. Why they chose not to, i have no idea, options are always great.

NI didn't purposefully omit 4k resolution or resizable GUI's. As Evil Dragon has explained numerous times, NI stuck with a GUI toolkit or whatever, that they developed 15+ years ago, and it's a huge task to covert all their existing software over to resizable GUIs. We can blame them for this all we want, but it is what it is, a lot of work which means they're mostly doing it with upgrades to the plug ins.

What I fear is the Kontakt GUI, considering the shear amount of third party GUI's it has installed in it, we're probably not seeing Konatkt scaling anytime soon, or we're getting blurry scales..

You misunderstud me, i mean NI could always leave option for oversampling. Guitar Rig 6 will also host old modules (v5), just by always being oversampled.

I will wait for the summer sale I suppose, but I am really stoked to see Noire included. I actually really loved Guitar Rig 5, got some of the best tones with it that I couldn't replicate in other sims at the time (Shawn Lane, Neil Zaza, Eric Johnson-esque tones). Excited to see what GR6 brings, and I am glad they are putting quality of sound above all else.

I am also super excited for the Stradivari violin and quartet stuff. Sounds fantastic in the demos. Enough new to pull me in, but im cheap so summer sale it is :P

I'm not sure I get the pricing.

I have K12 Ultimate, and my upgrade price to K13 Ultimate is £499.

Sure, right. :hihi: :dog:
