So... Is Guitar Rig dead?

The ‘new’ guitar rig will ultimately be judged on the new amps and modelling tech. We know what everything else sounds like already.
If it is as good as claimed then GR may have a bright future if they add lots of new amps over time...to be fair to NI they have always been generous with free updates along a product version.
Demos would be useful but as a guitarist I would need to play it, so the demo is what we really need! Let’s hope it comes out on time (Looking at you Massive X!)

I'm sure it will come out on time. They've been doing pretty well with effects lately.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

I use both. AT4 for old time rock and roll. GR for EDM & Chill. The thing about GR is that its perfect for effects laden guitar that is not attempting or needs to sound like real amps. The effects hold up well. The versatility also holds up well. I am also very happy with AT4 as it is. Haven't been able to figure out what all the hoopla is about NeuralDSP yet. But if S-gear gets an update, that one is a serious contender in my books.an-electric-heart wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 10:38 pm It's nice that it's getting well overdue update, but it all seems kind of superficial. Yes, they've added a couple of new models, but I kind of felt all the existing models were falling behind the competition sound-wise. They may have been acceptable a few years back, but aren't really that good now, and my impression is that they're still the same old models with a new GUI.![]()
I used to use Guitar Rig... but gave up on it, and now I'm a happy Amplitube user.

I will be getting it. I'm on Komplete 11. I generally upgrade every second version, so it's time. I'll see for myself.telecode wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 12:43 amI use both. The only thing I fire Guitar Rig up for these days is Reflektor, it'd be nice if they just made Reflektor stand-alone.

Well f.. me, audio's Half Life 3 finally dropped. Cool.
@EvilDragon, some quick Q's:
Have they kept all the Modifiers? Are there any new ones?
Have they kept all the collapsible advanced controls for the old modules (my favourite feature)? Do they have them for any new modules?
Are GR5 presets 100% compatible and (as the old models haven't changed) sound identical?
On first glance, the new UI's look dull/generic. As a programmer I get that they had to redesign them to be scalable (so probably vector based), but they have less flair.
But if the new amps sound good and they add new modules over time free of charge (or cheap), then I'm in
. GR5 is still my favourite amp sim, been waiting for this update a long long long long time.

The answer is yes, because GR6 is installed as a a separate program so you'll still have GR5 for legacy.

The main problem I find with NI plug-ins, as do many of my friends is that they look tiny on 4K screens.
Why can other smaller plug-in makers with less resources support 4k screens and not NI?

Are you speaking about the older stuff only? Because the newer stuff (Mod,Crush,Massive X and soon to be GR6) can resize.
Some of the others will take awhile longer.

Up till now none of the old plugins are made resizeable. GR6 is just a new plugin , not compatible with the old one. Same as Massive X.zvenx wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2020 1:28 pm Are you speaking about the older stuff only? Because the newer stuff (Mod,Crush,Massive X and soon to be GR6) can resize.

I think the old plugins will never change.
